In order to have a grid tied system that sells excess back to the grid you would need at least two smart meters. Not so stealth when the power company sees what u are producing and how little you sell back.
And for cost even using the $1 a watt range that's 17 grand just in panels.
A 1500-2000watt dependable inverter
Is 2-3grand and you would need 8-10 of them.
Charge controllers and batteries accessories easily 30-40grand.
A single battery is over 300

A 'discreet' - let's actually use the proper word, first - solar array capable of the wattage he wants is all but impossible.
Only if it were part of a much larger array would it go unnoticed.
@jijiandfarmgang has correctly ball parked the cost of a totally off grid system, making it very clear that grid tied setups are MUCH cheaper.
Off grid is still a bit of a pipe dream but I'm the guy who dreams while I'm awake- and I have a plan...
We'll revisit this in a few years.

It's only a pipe dream with this large of a goal.
I'd say 16 000 watts isn't off grid it's completely starting your own grid.

Batteries don't suck if you are running a DC product on them. They suck if you try to invert to ac.
People still use trackers. The reason to track the sun is not output. Its to get more usable hours in a day.
If I go through the cost and trouble, especially selling it, why would I not spend a little extra to track and maximize the hours of sun they use?

A 16kw grow facility requires a shit load of electricity more than 16kw.
This is out of my expertise but I have read up on solar, and plan to get a small setup probably this year for the tax credit.
I've been told ballpark is 1 dollar per watt, or 4 dollars per watt installed.
Depending where hes at probably 3-6 peak hours of sunlight.
Theres some variables but the actual required system is over 70kw in panels or more.

I'm wondering about this, too. OTOH, moving trackers strong enough to hold a big panel in place in high winds would need to be beefy, and therefore spendy.
My neighbors took out a tree to install a solar array on their garage roof. The point of it is just to shave total consumption, thereby offsetting peak usage and minimizing the payback time. It was even subsidized by their power company and they pay via their bill, structured to be less than the savings they enjoy by its use. I'm sure there are additional tax credits and the shade provided helps keep the garage cool all summer.
Clearly, this is an example of the most affordable way to go about adding solar power to your consumption mix. How much of it might be applicable to the OP's situation is a question only he can answer.

I have my associates in mechanical drafting, 5 years work experience plus 57 of 120 credits needed towards my bsme. Plus i have several years managing qc dept. So im not exactly an engineer.
I can figure it out. But im unfamiliar with the systems details....
Im going to look for some electrical schmetics online.
Sounds like on the grid is best way to go cause its much cheaper and simpler. Maybe even a 50kw turbine lol. I hate permits and inspectors btw....

Option #2.
I know my meter reader. He sells tabs, he said he can jump one side and put a new lock on unit. I would get one side of my box for free or 50% off my power or something like that lol. Just refuse any smart meter upgrade, theres a few medical conditions that sound somewhat unsuspicious if doing so.
Option #3
Get a two ton crane magnet, put on interior wall behind meter, power on and meter freezes.
Neither one of these will work with a smart meter
Ive never stole electric and never will, only because its so easy to get caught.... morally idgaf lol
Also I heard with a grid tied system you would need two Smart Meters but don't you have the right to refuse a smart meter? I believe you have to pay a fee to opt out of the smart meter program?
Btw yall should try my smoke, there would be way less bickering on my posts lol....

Except for that system wouldn't come close to supporting your grow independently from the electric company. Although it would nice to offset your bill.

Look at DIY options for the mounts. A lot of mounts are mucho $. You can use galv pipe and specific hardware for this, for example.
