Solar Rips: who else loves em?!

I just wanted to start a thread on solar rips.

I think they taste awesome, and they're great because they're wind proof.

for those who don't know what I mean, a solar rip is using a magnifying glass to light your bowl. tastes fuckin awesome.

what do you all think?

I've never heard of it. Knew anyone that has heard of it. Or anyone who's even tried it for that matter. Now you're gonna have my ass at the hardware store after work looking for one.

you're gonna love it man. it's best if you're out on a sunny day but it's all windy :D.

best for hiking/camping :).

but you really only need a 3.5 inch magnifying glass for a great burn :D

whoa that sounds like a pretty kick ass idea there poplars i will also be hitting up the hardware store very soon. oh and how long does it take to get a bowl burning doing that im not tryin to wait to long

that's a good idea...being legally blind I have an assortment of magnifiers......now if the sun would just come out....:)

also you guys should try wearing sunglasses or something, it gets pretty bright :D


also, it only takes like 3 seconds to start ripping once you get the sun concentrated :D

You really dont realize how much of a butane tast that you get until you do something like a solar rip. Hits are such better tasting.

The Sun just isn't quite strong enough for my patience level... this would take forever today...lol..

Alaska has it's quirckiness...lol...

oh hell yeah poplars, i've been doing it for years, its the fucking greatest!! in sunny florida i can do it all day...at the beach and on a boat is the best...there is not one cloud in the sky right now, it's nice, getting steamy hot though...a bit of dank, with some kief on top, ohhh, tastes so much better, gotta be better for ya and you can hit just a small corner so everybody gets a bit of greens....everyone please do this if you haven't...i got a huge mag glass at Michael's arts and crafts store, like 6 bucks...happy burning..:joint:

I learned 8 years ago and since i've showed many folks this method, everytime their blown away how much more stoned it gets ya!! it's my fav forsure...and it's been stated, but always wear sunglasses, you gotta look at the bowl when concentrating the sun beam, don't wanna blind yourself...

wow I'm hella glad I could bring this to the attention of the people who didn't know about it.

I had a fuckin awesome solar session by the way :D. tasted really good all the way to the end, oddly. I found myself not minding the end hits, haha.

and about the strain on your eyes . . . . I've found that if you slightly look away, just like you would with gas welding, it doesn't hurt your eyes.

also you can kind of squint and look away to cope with it too. I just don't wear sunglasses so.

yeah, i use those techniques, just with shades on...ah man, you don't wear em, or just don't wear em when solar toking?? if i'm outside, i got my costa del mars on, fucking sick fishing glasses...in florida your eyes die without shades!
