Soldered led strip safety question!

Okay so i was wondering if I should put some silicone or something on the soldered areas of the Led Strips that I bought from cutter before they changed to the solderless push in wago connectors.

These strips have a red and black wire pre-soldered to the led strips positive and negative contact points and it seems a little dangerous to have these contacts open to be touched by "accident"

I don't exactly have a pic atm of what I'm talking about but I will take one just to show what I mean,

The solder points for the positive and negative are about 10mm apart so one finger could theoretically "Short" the fixture and probably give me a good "how ya goin"

Will probably put some clear silicone adhesive over the contacts just to be safe.

Yay or nay ?

Silicon caulking has an acid in it. Don't use it.
I use something like this at work, Won't react with the wires.

@Jypsy Dog thanks, that looks like some handy stuff, never seen it before =) might see if I can get a hold of some

Hot glue. Was cheap and quick. Just a little blob on each contact point.

most electronics stores will have some form of coating, ie conformal etc that can be used to protect and insulate the contacts, sorry I dont have a specific answer, no one has asked before

am I correct in assuming the contact points would be live to the touch if both the negative and positive solder points were touched simultaneously?

They will be live if the light is turned on.

Typically 48V or less, its possible a mild short could occur if you laid a wire across the two pad, would not likely cause any led failure, however I dont recommend trying it, best to insulate the pads if you see it being an issue

Answer; don't use your tongue to check connectivity.

Safety first!

I was working on a 5 volt 120 amp supply on an nc control made back in the 70's. Switching type supply but still weighed over 75 lbs. Technology certainly has improved. Anyway I had replaced the power output switching transistors and had the supply back up and running. I thought I would feel the to3 transistor cases to see if they were warm. The usually ran slightly warm. No danger of shock in the area I was touching. But I had forgotten to take my wedding band off. It touched across the 5v 120 amp buss. Instantly my ring turned hot. I pulled my hand out of the supply and blew and spun my ring as fast as I could on my finger. Took out a pretty good chunk of gold. Always remove jewelry.
