All right, here is the situation. I have my veg cab going. I am switching from a small t5 to my 400 watt lumatek.

I was using the lumatel 400 in my flower room. I had a 6 in valuline fan on it in a 4x4x7 tent. I worked great in temps up to 85 keeping it as cool if not cooler. I had the plants get bleached from being safely temp wise on the glass. So that worked well.

Now I got this veg tent. 3x2x5. I have the 400 in there. It is without a hood. Just plugged in. It is without a real fan. Just a couple of duct boosters. I am ready to but some equip.

At first glance I would buy what I know. Well a little diferent I want a 4 in fan and a HTG cooltube. I am pretty sure that will work.

However it was a 6 in fan that worked in the bigger tent. Also once I got the fan I never tried it without a hood like I see many do. I am real curious to save money for a while on what this is like.

Can I get some advice here. Can I make do in that tent with a 400 with a 4 in fan? Do I need a hood if I get a fan? If I get a bigger fan like a 6 in for that small tent will I not need a vented hood? Also a side question is my 6 430 cfm fan enough for a 600? I noticed that it is a lot hotter than a 400. At least 8-10 in away now as opposes to as cloes as I want it.

Any expereince. I would love to hear that only a 4 in fan is needed. No hood. I would love to hear that I f I got a 6 in fan no hood would be needed. I would love to hear that anythig involving the purchase of only one fan is needed. Lol, save me some money.

I usually learn the hardway that I have to go big and that smaller is a waste. I have wasted some cash doing this. In the end I am proud of my setup. Like 2 Lumatek tanks now and tents as opposed to a dresser and mags. Let that be some advice. Lol. so any opinions.

if you go with air cooled hoods gte 6inch and up, i use HTG 424cfm fans, i think they are excellent and will cool your lights no problem, you can use a cheap 6in duct fant to cool a 600w, but get the growbright fan from HTG, its durable and strong, so for the fututre if you want to upgrade your lights you will be set to go

I am using this gents, htg airflow hood (the big one) and an 8 inch inline and htg's cool tube and a 6 inch inline fan. Both are valuline fans. Some advice, unless you got airconditioning to a large degree a duct booster wont cool anything. I learned that the hard way. A 6 inch inline barely cools a 600 that is a reason I udpgraded with the 6 in on the 400 and the 8 in on the 600. Save some on air cond if I keep the hoods cool to touch even for plants. Although they would get leight bleached.

eBay is the way to go. auctions rock like no other. I saw a cooltube go for 63 bucks with 14 dollars S and H. :) reps+
