These are some pictures I took of our not quite ready buds. Hope you like looking at them - I do. This is our first grow, but we're having fun. So far so good. We've made it to nearly the end: we have 2 plants with great looking buds for our personal use. What more could we want?
lol - I wish I knew. All I know is that they are from some excellent weed that we saved some bag seeds from. If anyone can help me identify it, that would be stupendous. Here are a couple of other pics with more of the bud and plants included.

And I know what you mean about seeing that whole other world under our noses. My wife is into photography, and she's big on taking nature pics, really up close. You should see some of the stuff she captures.....its amazing how she sees it in the first place to take a pic of it lol. She's particularly fond of water/dew droplets and frost.

the key to up close photography is using the macro setting on your camera - most have them and a steady hand or better yet, a tripod. Also, when you download them to your computer, cropping in close. It's also hard to tell color of trichs if the color balance is off - do you have a program that deals with images? If so, try to get the color to be what you see with your eye, not what the camera is picking up from the lighting. I looked at your grow journal and it looks awesome.
