this is my first time growing and ive had a plant for about 3 weeks its about 8 inches tall and the leaves dont start until about 5 inches up i was wondering if this is normal i have 17 hours of light and i was also wondering about how long to let it grow until i begin flowering

how long you veg your plants is based upon your grow area. remember that plants will double to triple in size when flowering.

if your leaves dont start till about 5 inches up it sounds like its really stretched out, what kinda lights are we talking about? 17 hours of light durring your veg cycle is an odd number... Most use a cycle more like 18hrs on 6hrs off, or 20hrs on 4hrs off, or even 24hrs on.

im not sure about the type of light but i know it is the right type cuz it emitts uv and i heard people said 16-18 hours so i decided i would put it right in the middle it is definetley stretched out quight a bit
