Someguys cabinet grows CA MMJ

Also... I have been able to get enough of a round about measurement and I am pulling just over 150 w per 3cob led and about 190 w the 4cob led at-the-plug. So... Around 500w total for just the lighting in the tent.

I want to update so bad but I am keeping it to weekly. The growth is off the hook! Even from the last pictures ^^^^^^^ I am thinking I am gonna feed a little heavy PK this next round. I find it helps initiate the buds setting a little quicker. I should have left more room on the screen... oops.

Shit still lookin amazing! Im actually about to start a build myself. Trying to build a COB fresnel spot light. got a pretty good idea in my head. Gonna try findin a 200w chip and a 100w dimmable driver for it. Hopefully for under 50-75 when we bought a "real one" for about 2. I dont need any special LED. Just a pretty good CRI but nothing ridiculous. The chip in the one we got isnt anything special. Probably a bridgelux or some second tier brand.

....now only in my business do you hear talk of the fresnel. Plano convex lense with a step cut into it is how they used to do it. Now they are a bit different. Are you in the Theatre business?

BTW fresnel and spot-light are not interchangeable. Fresnels are for soft round light that can be focused or flooded but always soft edged. spot-lights have hard edges that can be manipulated by use of shutters and patterns.

Lighting for entertainment is my specialty. :-)

talking to HY over there in his thread got me thinking about 2 4x4 tents.. But just now I thought... its less to just by one big 4x8 tent. PLUS I could move the led to half of it and my 600w hps to the other. I have all the fans needed already. I always run all flowering at night anyway on the same schedule so for me it would work. Then I can convert my cabinet to just led veg. Side by side 500w led 600w hps grow would be interesting no?

Im in the cinematography business haha and were going to put barn doors for gels/directing the light. I cant wait to start workin on that. My main concern is the focusing mechanism. Debating slots and wing nuts or making some sort of crank and rod assembly. Probably goin with pvc tubing for the main housing at first for simplicity of machining. They have fresnel lenses online for pretty cheap too. Probably just a single glob pressed into a form.

I think im gonna start smaller too. Go with a 100w chip and a 50watt dimmable ballast.

Do you think a 75w ballast would work without over heatin the LED? I plan to have a heat sink and a fan runnin pretty full speed and some vent slots on the non fan side to allow air to move across the heat since because id probably use some sort of screw cap to pull the lens on and off to clear dust and make sure the LED is functioning fine.

This is the LED tent at end of week two flower. I believe I am going to get a bigger tent and run these lights. I could easily cover more sq ft.

this is actually the last pic I took. I angled the bars with the canopy.

Dude, it is looking awesome in there! Everything is so healthy. Have you been using LEDs the whole time or did you have an HPS? Been contemplating switching to LEDs in the flower room to reduce heat. I can't ventilate straight outside because I am in an apartment and the spare room faces the main walk way. So all of the heat gets vented into the kitchen and basically heats up the entire house by 10 - 15 degrees. The flower room stays around 80 - 84 during the day. I think our heat wave is finally over so temps should be dropping anyway. Just want to be prepared for next summer I suppose.

Those have been all led the whole time. I had a makeshift fixture with flood lights led bulbs for vacation and then built these bars. I am super happy with the results so far. The real deal is in 6-7 more weeks. :-)

Can't wait to see what you harvest. I maybe be asking you to help me build some for a 4' x 4' tent. The thing I like most is the perfectly even distribution of the light. Looks like every plant get her fair share. I can look inside my tent at the colas and tell you where the light is strongest. It'd be cool to have strong even growth that is perfectly uniform. I always get these little straggler in the corners farthest from the light.

Are you in SoCal YKtind?

I think I could run a 4x4 tent fine with just these three bars btw. I think this is overkill for a 2x4 and I could produce more with the same amount of photons. :-)

OH.. and yes.. the light is super uniform and distributed well. Way better than a single point source of same or greater wattage.

That was one of my favorite things. As much as i try to keep one pheno all the same height some plants just grow bigger and smaller than others so its nice having multiple lights to raise and lower as well as having just as good light reading on the outer few inches of the tent as smack dab in the middle.

I am in SoCal actually. I've also been thinking about going vert but that will have to wait until I get a house and a garage. But until then I would like to check out LEDs. Especially if there isn't anything lost between that and an HPS.

Even if my electricity stayed the same but my heat went down it would be worth it. The next upgrades I have listed is moving to 1000 watt light (which has to wait because of heat) and or CO2 which my room isn't sealed so would kind of be a waste.

Bare minimum we should burn one, one of these days. Maybe even do a taste test on the Imperial Indian Skywalker Pale Ale, lol.

I am not thinking I am gonna lose anything. If not gain. This is 2.5wks since flip:

I will be buying a 4x4 tent for next round. Maybe two of them. One will be hps and one led. At least till I can build more lights. LOL!
