you could also break some glass and put it around the side of your planter they will cut themselves open

they also have powder that is made to work better than broken glass. i have something chewing on mine too. but, no slime. so. i sprinked some 5% sevin powder around it. the last two years, i have had the same early problem but, seemed like my plants learned how to "defend" themselves, and it stopped. they were jack herers, and grew to like 6'. for 13.5 oz off the one. my bigger problem, that i saw comming, was my rotti lifting his leg. so i fenced in my two currant girls. (aurora indicas). also. get a bottle of pyrithium. its organic. (ewww-ahhhhh), mix a tbl per qt of water, and spray them, and the surrounding area, at dusk. its just made from flowers. heck. in early to mid veg, i dont worry what i put on em. lol. most of the products that do not say organic, are close enough. the epa has preety much done away with anything that really protects, our property. be carefull! the wise lady on the news, you may have seen, actually may represent more and more idiots. i mean people. she said, in regards to our own lives....."SELF DEFENCE IS NOT AN OPTION." so. im not going to tell my plants this!! lol.

If there's no evidence of snail trails .....this also may be the culprit. I caught one red handed as it was chomping away.

slime = slugs or snails, get pellets and clear the area if you can, some plants are safe harbors for them
will the pellets hurt my plant? I don't see the damn snails/ slugs so I assume they are hiding somewhere and make up the sides of the pots. I'm going to try lining the outside of my pits with copper tape and/or snail bait. I don't really want to have pellets in the soil. Shit....

ya maybe those too? I sprayed them with neem already. Did two treatments. But today I'm going to do a slug/snail prevention. However it may look like Blair witch project but it has to be done. I just want to keep crap out of the soil. And here is some evidence see the center of the pic all that slime? At least I'm safe during the day. It gets pretty damn hot. I know they like cool and moist. This isn't a salad bar

Second picture you can see all the damage to two leaves and holes in one.

Yep Sevin dust. Dust the entire plant an your problems will be gone. Safe to use until they are flowering. At which time they are usually strong enough and big enough to take care of themselves.

i tried the beer, copper wire, etc, they work in theory but the snails still ate, i finally used the pellets and no more slime, no it wont hurt your plants if you buy the right kind, i even put them on the top soil in case someone got by, but the best thing i did which now results in no snails or slugs is i got rid of the banana plant by my garden, thats was their home

I was looking at the organic stuff. I think by Bayer says you can use even the day of harvest. Still I feel weird putting it in the soil . So I bought this other crap. Seeing as my plants are in pots, I'm going to place them on top of some rubber and treat the outside perimeter of the pots. After I tape copper around them. I hope that's preventive enough. Oh and I'm going to look where they might be hiding. Don't really have anything back there.

I took the vengeance and prevention approach.....honestly felt like Schwarzenegger and MacGyver in one. Best thing is everything I had laying around. Except the poison.

Piece of wood on top of bricks, with copper tape where there is a path. And the orange is the ledge I left for the killer. But when I read it , turns out its an attractor. I don't to attract them but detract. I'm gong to return it and get a "on contact killer"

Therefore, I put salt there instead. Then I dug a hole and placed a cup . For the beer !! Put some attractor sauce around the bottom of dirt. And gonna spray water and poor them a glass of beer. They should feel special I'm sharing a beer with them. In a glass no less. See what happens :fire:
