Something To Reflect On.

i think that if u haven’t tested the reflectivity of these materials ur self u cant be sure, bcus there is so many different answers to this on the internet (where I assume y’all have got ur info from )

will styrafoam take ant heat out thou? so are mirrors shit to use cause i can get easy axess to em anh make good ones. i assumed they would be good

Did you Know that clean white styrofoam is nearly 100% reflective?
Whereas, Mylar is only 90% reflective.Aluminum foil only reflects about 75% of the light. White paint relfects sbout 85% of the light, and semi-gloss paint relfects about 80%. Any light that does not reach your garden is wasted.

I dunno about that. put a light bulb inside a cup. Look where the dark areas are (the edge of the cells, so the majority of area, is shinning through) The light gets through. Some has to be absorbed. 90% seems rather generous to me.

And the light that does get through is in the red end. Good for veg, but not for flowering.

Mirrors will cause Hot speats and there reflectivity is Horrible, actually they absorb light alot more than reflect it.

AND YES THE INSIDE OF CHIP BAGS IS MYLAR!!!!

start eating and cutting and taping.

If the inside is shiny silver, thats mylar!!

But you know 25 foot x 4 foot roll of mylar is only $15.00

and thanks for the compliment.

Ok..Ima start buyin some chips then!!But do you know if I HAVE TO clean all the grease from the inside? If so,whats the easiest method for getting the insides clean?

Ima buy some Mylar in the near future, but for now Ima just veg some seeds..theyr germing as we speak!!

Cut the bag open very meticulously so you get the largest square/rectangle you can from it.

and then wash it well, all the grease needs to be gone, simplely run under water, and wipe with a spnge and dry down.

I wouldn't bet the farm on that.

*Virgin* mylar is *clear*
Its made shinny with aluminum.

Mylar is typically rip resistant (the main reason sailing yatch sails use it)
The chip bags are aluminized polypropylene.
Optic qualities are different between mylar and poly.

(the wrinkles in a chip bag = the wrinkles in aluminum foil; hot spots)

So what would you suggest BudBalls???What is a viable alternative to mylar, and can be found locally without spending 10 on the actual mylar and 30 for shipping!!Lol

Dude, just get yourself some flat white paint and call it a day :p It has good reflective properties, will look more professional and will be much cleaner (and easier to clean) than the Doritos Bag quilt you're dreaming of.

I went to Walmart and got white posterboard to line my cabinet, its $.36 per sheet.......get a good 4' sq area covered with a dollar.
