Something's still off with my setup - Small Plants

I have 6 plants currently growing inside under cfl's. I plan to transfer them outdoors but they are growing really slowly. It's been almost a month since they were planted but they're still very small. Should we transfer them outdoors now, or simply move them to pots? Also, some of the leaves look pretty bad, brownish and whatnot? Anyway, please respond. I really need some advice. I'm completely new to this. What should I do?

for the amount of light the growth looks ok.
you might want to space out your watering a bit...let the soil completely dry out between watering.

I would definitely make a tray for all of them and put them outside all day if possible.
my guess is low light and excess moisture..
(roots need oxygen to grow, too much water stunts growth.)
once they get going, replant,... (or even replant now)
....and get some nutes and a Ph kit.

You have pistils on some plants. This is only my opinion. It seems like you are trying to speed things up. I'm not sure what is up. Plants don't just grow pistils.

How long do you keep your lights on everyday? From one of your plants it looks like they are budding already and if you started 12/12 from seed they might be growin a bit slow because they had no vegetative state.

Your lights are too far away... your seedlings are getting next to no light and are close to just kicking the bucket all together. The seedling with pistils is a total lost cause - you're not going to get much more veg growth and you're probably going to end up with a sad little popcorn bud if you're lucky. But with no root struture idk if that's even possible. I would transplant immediately and get them outside, or with stronger and closer CFL's.

Since your plant is showing pistils, have they been on 12/12 since seed? If so, it's likely you'll start seeing pistils on all of them soon and you'll end up with a whole bunch of nothing. :/

Dually noted! Def need the lights closer and I would get all curly cube bulbs instead of those lights that are in there now. If your gonna transplant to outdoors make sure you harden those babies off first. The sun will bake em if you don't. Light is your main issue of concern at this point, get better light and I'm sure you'll see way better growth.

Earlier on, before we took off a few lights, I was having issues and someone said "Too hot and too much light intensity. What are they under? a blazing 1000w ?" I'm getting discouraged by so much contradictory info. I wish I had a mentor because this is proving to be very difficult. If I increase to 1 cfl per plant and lower the temp to around 75, as well as reduce watering, and keep them at a 24hr light cycle for a week, then transplant them outside, should I be ok? Do they even have enough time to veg since its already approaching late July. I'm in Maryland. I really just want to get at least 1 plant out of this newbie boondoggle of a grow op. :/

Hi Zwacho,

I am having similar issues with my babes as well here is my link https://www.rollitup.org/marijuana-plant-problems/694524-newbie-issues.html, and info on what I have discovered thus far.

My opinions for you are maybe over watering and a high PH level, possible MG deficency, out of all pics I've looked at the way the leaves are curling up and the spots like that seem to be that.

My ph was high, and I have since corrected it, it has only been a day so far so not much to tell at this point. I will keep my thread updated.

Good luck and plz share any information you may have.

On the light thing, as long as your temps are good (75ish) then there is no such thing as too much light basically, but good rule of thumb that I have read is about about 4 26watt cfls for first plant and 1 26watt per additional plant minimum for decent yield.

Are you sure those are cfl bulbs? u have a flowering seedling lmao iv never seen that ever, i dont realy know what you could do apart from repot them all into bigger containers, get some proper lights or put them outside.

definitely try get them out side so u can dry the soil out a bit... ur going to get mold or shrooms growing when u switch the lights off or even have root rot.. cfls need to be super close, and as for some one telling u its to hot.. lol not a fuck!!! i would first take them out side to get some real sun and dry out the soil then transplant them into a bigger pot plant then add some pearllite for drainage. and it looks like u dont even have holes in those cups another no no... i can bet u ur soil is cold and very wet so ur root growth has slowed right down, as every one has said not the best light and way to wet... get both of those under control and they will start to recover... and ur leaves are not going brown from heat!!!!

OK....for starters, where are the drainage holes in your solo cups? I see none. Secondly, you can't even grow tomatoes in "macaroni and cheese soil", so get some real soil.

I'm not trying to be a dick, but after one month your plants should be like 18" tall.

Read, read read.
