I used 56.0 grams of sour hash plant bud and ran 3 cans of colibri butane through into a Pyrex with boiling water underneath, scraped into middle of bowl after purging was down and conutjnued hot water bath for 20 mins ( No Whipping ) I got 10.5 grams of bho. Does anyone know how you figure out your return % ??

You divide your ending harvest weight, by the starting weight of the material. IE: 10.5 divided by 56 = .1875 or 18.75% yield, which is reasonable and in the ball park for good bud, and high for trim.

To put your yield in perspective, you will have to consider what you extracted. Unless it is for someone else, or for bragging rights, we usually just run the buds and sugar leaves together for our own use, so consider that when you look at our numbers that follow.

We typically average between 20 and 25% yield of Absolute from most of our indoor strains, with around 18% on our high CBD strains, using a Terpenator. Our lowest running prime bud was 5.8% and highest was 28.1%. The 28.1% yield was from well manicured bud that we extracted for a local doctor, and which he had grown outdoors.

With an open column, we averaged closer to 18% on the first pull and a total of ~21% with a repack and second run. Trim is all over the place but maybe 10/12% on average.
 
Wonderful color!! I'd dab it ;) and indeed, great yield! What kind of device do you use for that. I have a little HBG bubbler with a Ti nail, but want to get an oil pen or health stone to be able to discreetly partake at work soon! :)
 
niceee. return. and simple maths works well on returns.. you can even get a reallyyy goooood prediction of your final weight within a couple hours..

HOW I PREDICT MY FINAL WEIGHT QUICKLIKE
(due to the fact that some of my purges last multiple days, and i just cant wait to see how much i got!)

start off with 2 perfectly identical brown paper grocery bags, 1 full of final prepped material (de-stemmed, broken down, ready to blast, dry materiel)

measure the empty bag on a food scale, get that weight ( ~66grams )

now measure the bag full of prepped material ( ~ 200 grams )

you now see that you are starting off with (200 - 66) = 134 grams of material...

NOW! pack from the full bag, blast tube, THEN, empty blasted tube contents into empty fresh bag.. repeat until done..

once finished, place the wet paper bag full of butane soaked material into sunlight, with excellent air movement.. you want that bag to practically cook (its going into the trash soon after, so cooking the material is no concern) that bag should be fully dry pretty quick, the more you shake things up, the faster it dries..

SO, lets say, 2 hours later, that bag is bone dry... measure bag, you get 180 grams.. now, wait 2 more hours.. once 2 hours has passed, measure bag again, get 180 grams? yes? good, now we can say the tane is good and gone enough for our weight prediction purposes


now...

subtract weight of bag ( 180-66 ) = 114

now, that is your final weight out, so take starting weight in, and subtract out ( 134 - 114 ) = 20

percentage return, as mentioned 20 divided by 134 = .1492 ~ 15%

this is a really good way to get a decent idea of how much you will get.. im always just looking at the pools wondering, and many times over predicting.. .. now i get a better idea :]
 
oh man. is that really how you get your weight???/ by weighing the weed before and after and calling that difference the amount in oil there????

why not just weigh the chunk of parchment paper.... write that on the paper.

drip or blast (remember the waxes coming off parchment paper though) oil onto the paper... re weigh it and minus the parchment paper.

OR, keep cutting the paper until it weighs exactly 2.0 grams... then just do it mentally very simple ;)

i get my exact final weight, by weighing my final outcome.. tare parchment, weigh oil...

NOW, what i just explained was how i get my PREDICTION ... no better easier way.. all i am doing is weighing a bag twice... my purges can last multiple days.. so i like an idea of how much i am making... my predictions are usually just a couple grams off.. good peace of mind for this individual..

i also understand this includes weight of waxes etc.. but this is a prediction of straight bho! i would subtract 10% for predicting an absolute..
 
oh in the chamber you mean. I thought you meant he intial evapping of your 100 cans of butane that you use in your monster batches.
