Space Jill Outdoors/Greenhouse?

Hello,

I am in the process of planning for next summers outdoor grow and was wondering if anyone has experience with Space Jill or Space Queen outdoors?

I have 4 little seedlings so far, and plan to do a quick indoor phenotype selection before the season starts.

But was thinking the fast flower time will be a strong asset in my short growing season.

Any ideas about outdoor harvest times, yields, or pest or mold variables...etc?
(I understand this is dependent on many factors..)

Thanks!

Short growing season? what area?

I like to start depo on my smaller plants come August 1st, about 2 weeks in I just let it go. It's a PITA for 2 weeks, but saved my ass this year. You can run tons of strains that way with great results and be done by the beginning of October.

Saves the headache of guesstimating when flowering began on the plants too.

Thanks for the reply and suggestion, I have been thinking about light dep. allot, but was worried to mess it up by spacing on it for a day or even a couple hours..

Maybe a digital watch with alarms..

Last summer I gave my friend a power kush plant to grow outside, indoors it flowered in 50 some days, but it was stupid slow to flower outside and could have gone till November! Whoops. Not in this area...sorry buddy.

Yea, I was worried, but being off a couple minutes isn't going to throw you way off. I set my phone alarm for 7am & 7pm & had them in 20gal smart pots w/ handles. 24hrs of dark to start it off hard then 12 hrs of dark for 13 more days.

2 weeks of going down there 2x a day isn't bad, makes me feel really good to harvest stuff 3 weeks before anyone else around here and w/o PM/Rot and fully finished.

My Bubba Kush x Querkle finishes by mid October naturally, that's my primary in big pots this year. I will probably depo 2-4 more in 20s this year.

Right on.

My plan is to run 6, 150 gallon pots in a 15x20 greenhouse.

Ive got 3 strains that will reliably finish by October, and I may just stick with them for the big pots.

But maybe I'll set up a smaller light dep. set-up with some 30 galllons to test run some different strains outdoors.

Going down there 2x a day won't be a problem ; )

I have trouble getting anything else done when I've got giant ladies under the sun.

Im working with;
Jack Herer, Texada Timewarp, Afghani#1 x black domina, Arctic Fallout (chemdog 91 skva x snow lotus), cheese quake, kandy kush and space Jill among others...

Hella badass guys. Yeah im already thinking about outdoor this year as well. Geek did you use super soil in your 20gal pots last year? Im just trying to figure out how big i have to go to not NEED teas in the end of flowering.. Cool plan though Rising Moon. I wish i had the space to have a green house like that. When is your first frost/rainy season/got to get them done date?

...also i can tell you that a space queen dom pheno of Chernobyl i had finished first outdoor last year.

It's been later and later every year.

But I'd say mid to late October. Not really worried about frost so much.

I think with 100 gallon and above your pretty much guaranteed HUGE well fed plants.

Im going to be following Tom Hills soil mix for GIANT organic outdoor plants.

I'm just now SCROGing one of my space jills, and have 2 more phenotypes to figure out.

i have been playing with prelim dep for a few years now with pretty good success, but there will be strains that hate it....my qrazytrain for example re-vegged after three weeks of dep starting last week of july.....Aug 1st is a real good starting point for most though, some just take it better than others.....i will be depping an entire greenie run by hand starting june 1....makes for a long summer, but sure is nice to be cleaned up by mid aug.....i will do the same as geekmike with my couple outdo plants in 25 gal smarts with handles....drag in, drag out twice a day for three weeks...aug 1 till the 21st....but well worth it in my opinion.....nothing sucks more than running out of sun....all strains, and even phenos within gene pools will initiate flower at different times outside....last year my Ace (JTR) started to flower a full three weeks before my Ace(BCS).....it was in three weeks earlier too....Ace(BCS) needed till Oct 20...which is rediculous for around here....i had colas that froze solid...lol....good luck!

You got it.

Yeah Nugs, I had a pineapple trainwreck that really needed a couple more weeks last year, but still ended up being great.

My greenhouse is twin 8mm polycarbonate, and is nicely insulated. Plus I can always put a small heater inside if something drastic in the weather pops up.

EDIT: forgot to say, I am using a local compost companies chicken manure and potting mix, but the ratios should be very similar, just need to find tune a bit and may add some azomite, greensand, oyster shells and other minerals too.

Crazy. We just have a mountain rose herbs where im at as well. Thought they were only local.

I think im just going to do some small plants outdoors this year, to hunt through some Otto#1 seeds. Thinkin 20 gal smarties... gunna be fun as hell.

A small local tea/herb shop around me sells all the mountain rose herbs and such.

Really good stuff. A girl I went to high school with now works there, and has lots of good things to say about them.

Bump it up to 30s IMO. The difference in size and price isnt much, and your plants will be happier as a result. Less watering also...
