spectrums

Hi I would do a little research before you start asking questions, as a fellow newbie I find you wont get much helpful replies if you could just use google. Its blue light for veg and red for flowering this chart shows the light spectrum.View attachment 1755874

No. Green light isnt really used by the plants, its so weak you can have one on while you are flowering during the dark period and it wont make them go hermie or anything. The answer most would give would be blue spectrum for veg and red spectrum for flower. That is not the correct answer though. cannabis has 2 types of chloroplast, one that interacts with the blue side of the spectrum and one with the red side. All using 1 spectrum does is limit your plants potential. Use both spectrums for both stages.

he is correct about using both spectrums for the best results I was trying to keep it simple so as not to confuse. You can get lights with both spectrums and use it through the full cycle.

Yes. In my opinion (and a lot of others as well) use both spectrums through out the grow. Not to say that doing MH for veg and HPS for flower is wrong, it's been done that way for years. I believe that both spectrums more closely replicates natural daylight. Now you COULD get really anal and start out the light cycle at the bluer end of the spectrum, and gradually shift it to the red as the "day" progresses as it does in nature, but why? I doubt you'd be able to quantify any possible increases, just as I have been unable to quantify any increase by using one light then the other for veg and for flower. Whether or not the plants actually use the whole spectrum, if it's in nature, I want it on my plants. In fact, I have gotten just as much tight, sugary bud using either HPS or MH for both cycles. Just one or the other, but not both. But by all means use 'em both if you got them. Just either get a light mover or rotate the plants to get the benefits of both lights.
