Agreed on this as well, give it a shot though - could save oldschool genetics from extinction or near extinction... like the original ATF that many claim to have, yet no one will get genetically tested.

Cannadan, please be -very- careful with the technique used on them, technique to get them to pop will make all the difference, and make sure your conditions are dialed in as closely as possible, if not dead on for it. Good luck, and keep us updated!

Edit: If you haven't thought to do so, I could recommend use of high grit sandpaper to assist with this, scarring the edges of the beans and if you normally use wet paper towel, this would be a time to skip that - unless you have detailed information as to the chemicals retained in said paper towel after the bleaching process that could cause a total disaster with this delicate project.

I will have to do some more study on the proper tech....for old beans and I thank you for your tips...
cause I would have jammed them in some cheap paper towel,,,wet it and stuck them in a container with a lid and a towel wrapped around it...on top of a fridge....lol

Paper towel works for most, but some of the bleaching.. especially with the scarring of the beans could prove to not work so well. Your technique may very well work out with no issues whatsoever, hell.. you could even use a few techniques and see what pops the best, if any do.

I have 63 seeds to work but a few look no good.....but most look normal...

Very Very good suggestions..don't use paper towel.....what is a good sub here...anyone....I'm blanking out. what would be a good sterile inert type of pad to use. Oh hey i got it...how about some big gauze pads??? They must be near as clean as anything and will hold water.
I have tried seeds that old and ...NADDA...they didn't pop even one.

Gauze pads are as sterile as it's going to get, and will hold liquid well - I don't see any issue with gauze for the execution of this project whatsoever.

Thai Stick was before my time, my old man has told me tales though. We used to smoke a ton of acapulco and himilayan gold back in the 90's, few of the old timers still had some of the old skool strains around. Haven't seen them since I was teenager sadly.

I have sprouted many seeds, i used too use the paper towel method,now i just put them right into pre-rinsed coco with some H&G algen extract ,no dome ,temps around 75-78 if older seeds i use sandpaper.i had great success with this method for many years...

some research on strains native to Trinidad-Tabago...is probably in order too...
I too think some of them should sprout...even at this age....since the storage was ideal...

I am currently doing my outdoor crop.....and trying to get a roof on my greenhouse... then I should have the green house up and running before winter....
to try this project in with the rest of my indoor medical count....
If I can get two to sprout that would be ideal....and try and get them done before the court injunction
goes back in front of the judges...but if they are straight up sativa's they may take their sweet time.....
By accident..... for my first ever outdoor medical crop I was given Colombian gold strain clones ,instead of the kush
strains I had asked for....the plants took a long time to finish up...but they were def Colombian gold...and
had a very old school flavor....I remember back from the 70's....
