No, you can transplant any time to any media I believe, just be gentle, and make sure the new media Isent too “hot” aka too fertilized.
Wait, so instead of using tried tested and true methods you'd rather do something that noone else does and expect this to be a good idea?

Listen buddy … I’m new to growing I said. There’s many ways you can grow according to google. So that’s why I am asking opinions on here where people have knowledge ! So no, I did not expect this to be a good idea. Thanks for your input though

what are signs that it needs to be repotted?
A 3 inch pot is a good size starter pot. I would recommend using loamy soil that contains a low amount of nutrients and has been pH buffered at 7. You should always transplant before it becomes root bound. You'll want a root ball before you transplant again from the 3 inch pot to something larger.
