How does the Spider Farmer do on bud size?...assuming everything is on point with the grow can the Spider Farmer 2000 produce a yeild somewhat comparable to a 400 watt hps with one plant in a small space

It should give way better yield and quality than a 400w hps tbh, especially if you have the right tent size so maximise use of the light. The spider farmer 2000 uses top of the range diodes, has better wavelengths and more spectrum than hps. I've got one, only in my 3rd week of veg with 4 plants, tent is a bit bigger than it should be at 1.2 x 1.2 x 2, but wow its an awesome light isn't it! The growth is phenomenal. Im personally finding 24" above the canopy the sweet spot, 18" had a bit of light stress.
But yeah thats going to shit on a 400w hps any day haha

Thanks for the advice on the distance from canopy I was expecting a learning curve on figuring out the best distance...I haven't fired the light up yet it's a Christmas present from my ole lady...I actually dont use a tent I'll post pics of my space...I've been using 2 150watt HPS's not actually 400watts I just said 400 watts to simplify the title of thread...I get decent yields from the way I'm using the lights now so if the SF2000 beats the way I'm doing it now I'll be super happy...I've been questioning myself on if it's the best move to switch or notScreenshot_20200823-194339_Gallery (1).jpgResized_20200914_164849.jpeg20200830_120254.jpgScreenshot_20200823-194454_Gallery.jpg20200830_120207.jpg

Bud size and yield is not really the same thing: well grown buds with a quality white led tend to be smaller than hps buds but denser. The IR in the hps makes the buds big and bulky but tend to add a lot of water in the bud: 1 pound of led buds looks a lot like half a pound of hps buds. Id say get the led (spider farmer isnt really top range but will work if you cant fork out for hlg or similar) and keep one of those small hps bulbs around for radiant heat and extra light, youd get the best of both world.

No way a SF 2000 beats a 400 hps, maybe 300 watts of hps, but honestly the OP is growing nice buds with his setup. I wouldn't switch it out, UNLESS you want to go bigger, then look at the LEDs available for a larger footprint.

My space is big enuff to where I can just slide the HPS's over some n hang the SF2000 in beside them n then add another plant I suppose...just got that idea...then we can have a legit comparison side by side n see which light/lights perform best...I'll make a thread when I get started

Your plants look great continue doing what you're doing under the new light. I've used a digital ballast multi spectrum hps before, used a 900w blackstar purple light led, and this one, hands down this is so much better, not sure if its just personal view or genuinely much better, but the plants just look happier under the 2000, more faster vigorous growth, Its using less power as doesnt have fans. Dont get me wrong hps is tried and tested, and works great. There was a time when cheap leds were next to useless, this is cheap for what it is but is very high powered, and for close to £300, its excellent, various videos that show how much it out performs 400w hps. The only way you will know is when you use it, but you're in for a real treat with it. And no I'm not a fan boy or affiliated im just so impressed with it, and I'm stoned hence the novel

Here's an auto I have going right now under an sf1000 in the corner of a 2x4. I have an sf2000 on the other side
over a plant that's been vegging for 5 weeks. I been lucky enough to keep the photoperiod under the sf2000
to one side of the tent. They're fattening up pretty nice, but I don't have much exp. My idea of a decent size cola
may be miniscule to someone else who's been growing for a decade +.

Plants n set up look good...I like that ur not tryna cramp too many plants under the light/lights...that's a nice bud for led or hps...I'm feeling more confident that the switch won't lessen my yields like I thought...I've grown with both led and hps n in my experience the LEDs in a real small space could make decent sized buds but definitely dank buds but couldn't compare to the hps in size on any day...but those were advanced led light/blurples...looks like these new LEDs have came a long way...no way a blurple could make that size buds from that distance ...thanks

I grew a mini monster with blurples, but the buds were real airy. After 7 weeks in jars they shrunk even more since drying, and densed up a little.
208W of cheap blurple only got 93g. Looking at the plant you would think it was more. This is it here all let loose from the supports. She's in a 3gal fabric pot.

I do ok with my blurple...its an Advanced LED n its old...prolly 2011-12ish...I gotta keep it pretty close and keep it in a tight small space to get tight buds with some size...its never let me down on quality tho...I still use it for veg and for small 12/12 from seed plants in a closet...I've tried using it in an open space n I was disappointed in the results 20191217_160916.jpgScreenshot_20201019-123736_Gallery.jpg20191217_161843.jpg20191217_161918.jpg20191227_111723.jpg

Three 150w HPS fixtures combined will produce less light than one 400w HPS fixture alone. Just sayin.
I wondered abt that and kinda figured that was the case..I do ok with what I have but I'm sure I'd do even better with an actual 400 or 600watt light...I never have got with a 400 600 1000 bc I didnt wanna fool with fans n ducting etc to keep light cool...I just point a fan at these 150s n it keeps em cool enuff

600watt HPS will produce twice the lumens of three 150w fixtures combined, while using only 150watts more. I think you'd be fine with a 600, just hang it higher.

A 315 CMH would blow the OP's mind!
I agree and dammit I had totally forgotten that these exist...SF2000 has already been purchased n I'm happy n excited to add it to my setup...next time I upgrade or make an addition I need to remember this
