spider mites

First let me say I'm no expert but I got spider mites early in the season I got Florakiller from my hydro place and it worked great. Closer to flower I used a soapicide.

If a small grow get Neem oil and use every 5 days for 20 days or get doctor doom bomb or get Avid mite-aside approved in Canada and sold at most hydro shops for around 50 70$. (this is nasty shit so cover up face mask and gloves fans off and leave after spraying) sounds bad but it's safe for food up to 3 days before harvest. These bastards are hard to kill so I don't mess around if I have them. The have a life cycle of 5 to 8 days so you need to repeat the treatment at least three times when using regular methods. If you have a $$ of plants using a mite-aside that is systemic is the way to go as (systemic) is like injecting something into your total body it's every where so when they feed they die, generation after generation. Which brings me to another point, I switched to organic soil gardening 5 years ago and no bugs since, I think it's the worm castings. Mites are very hard to kill and cunning if they feel threatened by bug sprays they will go into breed mode as early as day 5. Death to all mites all else fails call Billy the Exterminator.

Just found a few mites on the very lowest leaves, haven't reached the buds and no "netting" like webs, except directly under a couple leaves. I'm only about a week from harvest....gonna pump my tent full of CO2 and declare war on those bastards. Wish me luck. Anyone got any other ideas for ridding these pests when you only have days left before harvest without damaging my oh so beautiful nuggets?

i had them, used neem, 100 percent cold pressed, 1 teaspoon , 2 litres water, couple drops washing liquid. spray every 4-5 days til gone, spray at light out only. use through veg to prevent mites, once a week would be ample.

If you are not a couple weeks away from harvest,a hot shot no pest strip is a frukin miracle.Spectracide also makes a no pest strip as long as it has glorious dichlorvous its hittin and stickin like Popeye's chicken.I had a lot of problems with the southern red spidermite when I got started, bless the guy on overgrow for turning me on to no pest strips. You will find the purists that say dichlorvous will kill you and all that good shit, but it has literally saved a half dozen grows for me.Now I check the underside of any leaf along the vein in the middle to catch eggs once a week. Also look for the tiny dots on the tops of the leaves and take action,a grower doesnt wait until he sees webs lol.Although thats exactly what happened to me my second grow,it was DP Blueberry and those plants harbor spidermites in their genes I think

I've had spider mites and hate those damn bastards. Deal with em fast, time is buds. I agree with sparkjumper about the no pest strips. They are amazing, cost like 4 bucks, and work wonders. The down side is they won't stop them overnite (need a week or so before you get results) and you shouldn't use when you're close to harvest or else you end up smokin some nasty chemicals.

I also like SM90 for mites. It's mild and knocks down the mites fast. Not sure how it works but think it makes the plants stronger and better able to fight the little bastards off. Just make sure you spray the undersides of the leaves as thats where they live. Main thing tho is prevention. Treat your plants like they've got mites even then they dont and you'll be one step ahead of the game as they're always hiding in the crevices waiting to come out and feast on your plants.

BTW I've tried ladybugs and think there worthless

My advice after cracking a whole 20lb tank in a sealed 10x15x8 room at a slow rate of course for 3 hrs, is, dont. Save the gas for photosynthsis. I scoped right after and them fuckers were still alive. Im sure that this is a myth. I tested it double the recomended time and double the ambient ppm's.

Anyone ever use the sweet hibiscus. I hear you can put one in the room and the mites attack it because they find it irresistable. and then you can just take it out after a few days? Docktor Doom bombs and azamax with hotshots works pretty damn good. They more variety you throw at them the better. switch it up.... and sorry for double posting.

Yea man I tried predator mites too they dont tell you they stay dormant on a 12/12 photocycle,I wouldnt trust the little buggers in veg either, they can make a truce or something.Dont trust any bugs man, especially lady bugs they are evil little volksbugs. When I do get them which is seldom anymore because of preventative maintenance,I would hang the strip for 48 hours then remove it.24 hours later I would hang it for 24 hours. Its never ever failed with the southern red spidermite and I suppose the two spotter would succumb also.A great preventative in veg is a cool mist humidifier because those buggers hate that cool mist in their face,I'm not kidding. They wont get camp set up in veg if you use a cool mist humidifier. The plants love it too as an alternative to foliar misting of which I dont indulge.

But be careful with a humidifier...too much of that and you'll end up with powdery mildew.

Should've mentioned before that mites have a 7-10 day life cycle and most "cures" only get the adults not the eggs. The trick is to hit em every 2-3 days for 10 days so you get the adults and then the ones that hatch afterwards.

Ok so let me get this straight. IS a habanero solution an effective way to kill mites? DOES it harm your plants at all? Are you NOT supposed to do it during flower? I am looking for a cheap, organic solution and have read a number of posts regarding this method. I have some beautiful healthy ladies but the little bastards are slowin me down!:wall:
