SPIRAL WEED PLANT--may be alternative to scrog and other methods of limiting height

1. Do You Think This is a Good Technique? -- 2. Which Technique do You Prefer?

Im the kind of guy that likes to experiment with different things :bigjoint: I like to try to do things many different ways. I guess im just curious & like learning new things

But ne-wayz im gonna try to grow one of my plants in a spiral instead of straight up. It would be different. i don't remember ever seeing anybody try anything like this before. Ill be using the tie-down technique, as the plant grows i will tie it down so that the main stem spirals up.

My theory is that with this technique you should get at least double the yield than you would with a straight plant at the same height. Think about it... if you have something in a spiral, when stretched out its gonna be allot taller than it would be in spiral form... so basically there will be allot more main stem at a shorter height

The only thing that i could think of that might not work so good with this technique is light penetration. With the main stem in a spiral, the leaves in the plant will be very close together which will block light to the lower buds :wall:

So I dont know... we'll find out how it works here soon :bigjoint:

If you want to follow this and see how it turns out or see pictures just click on my signature... Thats my grow journal and i post pics in there frequently

So what are your guys thoughts on this???

Yea im learning this now... ive been googling spiral grows and more people have done it than i thought. When i came up with the idea i never heard of growing that way... my way might be a little different though. i might make it a very tight spiral and see if i can pretty much get one big bud with it. Or i might even make the spiral wider in some places and more narrow in others. this is really just an experiment (im still gonna take very good care of it though :weed:). Like i said i get curious and like experimenting... ill take something somebody already did and figure how to make it better

i think fuzzybudz or fditty, one of them did this.
Yea thats what i was just sayin... i didn't realize other people were doin it. its ok though because now i can try to do it different ways than the other ones that did it... I might find a better way to do it that they dont know about. thats the whole point of this anywayz - experimenting :joint:

Does anybody else have anything to say about spiral growing? I'm no expert... I am very good at growing weed but i wouldn't go so far as to call myself an expert. so whatever you know that i dont know would help me out and be appreciated. give me your opinion straight whether its good or bad... I want to know if im doing anything wrong.

remember - click on my signature for pictures... last night i added something to the box up so that i could tie down any plant in almost any spot very easily. It's ghetto but it'll work and thats all that matters.

I don't think it would be good because there would be terrible light penetration* unless you have lights going around the side. I read once in another forum that a guy ran a test to see how long he could veg a marijuana plant, he ran it in a spiral up a large wire cylinder. He had the tower surrounded by cfls and got like 2.5 pounds off the plant because it had grown to 25 feet long (although wrapped in a spiral going up). Here I actually found the page where I read it, take it with a grain of salt though (its one of those my friend told me stories). https://www.rollitup.org/general-marijuana-growing/79914-whats-your-tallest-plant-ever.html

I think you would be better off with a SCROG or just training your plant in a flat spiral so you have a single canopy that covers your whole grow area (thus everything gets good and equal light)

ya you want your tops to be almost the same height to make it efficent, its good if you have height restiction and want fewer plants instead of like six lil ones

the seven plants that i got in there are vegging... when my other plants are done flowering i will pick 4 good ones from this box and let them flower
