well i was going for a mainline. didnt intend to break anything. but i did learn that pinching before bending is better
It can, yes.. as a test I may have to veg one out and take needle nose pliars and do hellacious damage to the stem with about crushing it to see how it handles multiple damage spots of a severe nature.

Yup! We use a bandaid (so nothing sticks to the plant) covered in duct-tape.... it should be healed into a nice-sized knot in a week or so-- then remove the wrappings and you are good to go! ;)

Yes, there's a method to really strengthening your stems if you're extremely careful as to how much pressure is applied... it's not a well-accepted practice as it can do irreparable damage to the plant and potentially kill it, but it solidifies the stem in more than a few ways if done properly.
Not an uncommon practice on this side of the big pond, translated we call it pinching. Edit: frankly I haven't seen anyone do it for a while. I used to do it a LOT, bumps all over the main stem and main branches, supposedly increases fluid throughput. Since there's only so much stress I want to put my plants through I only do it where I bend (to prevent the break/split when bending and scrogging) and rather stress the plants in ways I know work more effective (topping and cropping).
