Split the bud in half?

I was talking to a friend about herb and he brought up something an old timer mentioned to him about using a razor to split buds in half, i guess it's suppose to make the bud sap with thc boosting resin/potency.. anyone know if it's possible and why it might or might not work? just found it interesting and thought i'd get more info if possible, thanks :]

You're talking about while the plant is alive and flowering? If so, I've heard similar myths and that's all they are...myths. The only thing you'll accomplish by splitting the buds while it's alive is stressing out the plant. If you stress out the plant, she may produce male pollen sacs and then you're headed in the opposite direction in terms of potency. You may have heard the old timers who say to drive a nail through the main stem....supposed to increase resin production. It's all bullshit, stress is a bad thing for your females and that's my $.02.

I never heard of this man but i dont think it would work i think it would just stress the plant...im no expert though...peace

yea i knew it was questionable.. just wanted a little more background info on why it wouldn't do what they said it would.. ohwell, woulda been nice tho thanks for the replies

Woldo's right the only thing that accomplishes is severely stressing the best thing you got going. Why not just try some less harmful things like molasses and high P foods.

huh? i dont need anythign for the plants, just wanted info on something someone mentioned to debunk it.
