lysol is your friend.
befor you work with your jars/cakes/spores spray the whole room you are working in. it will help keep the nasties out of your jars
btw dont use anything you used on that jar without sterilizing it or youll just be passing mold spores

Hell yeah bro. From your posts in the past I'd say your da boss, but shit, we all gotta start somewhere. And if Urlacher is not healthy this year I'm gonna flip. He needs to be unleashed. We gotta do something better this year, last year was a disgrace.....at least we beat the Vikings at the end of the season when it didn't matter to us. I just hate this wait until next season, at least the NHL is back in session so I can go back to watching the Blackhawks for a few weeks.
Yeah it almost looked like cobweb mold to me, though I have never seen it in person, just pictures. It could be a few things. Wasn't sterilized long enough, but my guess is that it was when you were injecting the spores. That tends to be where people have their biggest problems. Spray some lysol or ozium in your room next time and use a home made glovebox next time if you didn't this time. Also, did you flame and alcohol sterilize the syringes before and after each jar?

i sani for 60 mins cool for 12 hrs and then i steril the syringe but it could of been something else im guessing and yes it was mold so that wont effect anything else would it ?

good call...... its easy and inexpensive to start over. next time be more sterile bro. spray your innoc room from floor to ceiling with lysol, and let it stand 10-15 min for you go inside..... also clean the needle afetr every jar..... use cottonball with alco...

definatly toss that shite! As was said before make sure you inoc the sides of the jars not inside the substrate. What was your autoclaving method? Did you use a glove box? Glove boxes are so easy to make and can be blasted with bleach before inoculating and spray bleach around the area you are doing. they say 10 to one ration on water to bleach...... flame the needle between each jar as well. but im sure you know this.....

Did you use a pressure cooker or just steam. With steam I do 90 minutes just to be safe. Also I innoc about 3 hours after I take them out. Make sure they're not warm to touch then wait another 30 so the inside cools as well. I noticed that one day I had a friend come over and we shared his pressure cooker. We innoc'd the following day and we both ended up getting mold in a few days to a week. We also used a liquid culture he made so that might have been the problem. Dont know

the ones i didnt inoc aint grow mold. but out of 8 i just tried i got 4 with some type of growth starting and a pressure cooker for 90 mins after boil at 15 psi

ok so i went by my buddys house and checked today and the jars are about 65-70% colonized thats the puerto rican strain, but i used the mazatapec syringe on 2 jars on the 9th and checked today and nothing in those jars and the PES hawaii which i did 2 jars of to have mycelium, so do you think i got bogus spores of that strain? www.micro-suppy.com
