thanks for the info dude! glad to hear you had a successful first grow even if there was a couple kinks in the process. What was the prob with the pf tek, did it not fully colonize or was it a fruiting from cakes problem? I'd be down to try a monotub of sorts in the future but i'm sort of trying to keep my cultivation on the DL. About how long does it take for a whole monotub to fully colonize and how many flushes do you get out of em? Thanks again for the heads-up on how albino a+ pf tek worked for you, any and all info is appreciated
... sorry not trying to jack thread ill move to PM's if its needed lol
Well the dub-tub is just 2 6qt tubs stacked on each other, with poly fill in strategically placed spots. It takes up little to no space, and can handle itself in the dryest of conditions with no need for fanning/misting. Most first timers that start with the dub tub(nicknamed zombie tub) usually fail, but if it is made 100% correct, then you will have success with it. Monotub's are great too.
In my case, the zombie tub, I used 4 fully colonized BRF half pint jars(I had a little smaller tub, I think, not 6 qts) mixed with equal parts field capacity vermiculite(1:1 ratio spawn:sub). I put them inside a bag one at a time, and crumbled them down to as fine as I could get them, then put them inside a sterile mixing bowl with the sub. I mixed all that really good with a sterile wooden spoon. I put a layer of dry vermiculite on the bottom of the tub, then put the mix on top, being careful not to disturb the dry verm on the bottom. I put a piece of tin foil over the top, and poked some holes in it for exchange.
After a few days, it was 100% colonized and all was good. I didn't case it, but it is highly recommended you do. It is also highly reccomended you use a much more nutritional sub, other than just pure verm, that is, if you want bigger mushrooms. So basically, you do all that, once you case it, you can just put it straight into fruiting conditions. Spray the inside of the top tub, and then duct tape the tubs together.
BAM! let it sit for a couple weeks until the mushrooms are mature/when you are ready to harvest. Easy.
