There's a certain good point to the premade tubing argument right now.......... For just color tubing (no dichro) I like making my own. Using 50x3.5 instead of 50x5 each piece looks a lot more dense too, the 50x5 washes the color out a little bit when you pull it down real good and the 50x5 is what most people use because its thicker...... Strangely the wag tubing that EU sells uses medium wall INNER tube but that doesnt help the outside wall which is what actually matters........

Here's how I see it, 2/3 clear ($2) 1/3 color ($10) Oxygen/propane/kiln ($1) for a 1# vac stack............ $13 and about 40 minutes start to finish in time aint too shabby versus $50-$70/#++ And I get to pick my own color combos =)

i'm confused. seems you are doing the same thing as them.

having a thinner inside wall allows you to reduce you work down smaller while still keep it somewhat thinner and maintaining the 'depth' on the outside with the thicker walled. the only reason for the clear on the inside is to hold the color while pulling it.

if you are 'washing your colors out' you are blowing it too thin.

you gonna do some "fire and ice"? or "fade-to-clear"?

Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.

I have some black/unobtanium and white/unobtanium tubing that i'm going to make some bubblers and then domes/dishes out of.... I have some of the fade to clear, did a fire and an ice fade to clear and didnt really like how either of them looked -- it was my color choices that were poor.

50x5 outside vs 50x3.5 outside and 25x4 inside vs 25x3 inside are very much so different. 1mm reduced from a 25mm diameter vs 1.5mm reduced from a 50mm diameter means much less glass when using 50x3.5&25x4 vs 50x5&25x3.... Some colors are naturally denser than others, this helps reduce that variance. The thinness is most noteable when doing double layered work, as each section is thinner than you'd normally use then stacked in each other. If the density isnt there, it doesnt look as good.

i got my show kiln, f-130, from ABR. they fired it up at vegas but never used it. burnt all the "new kiln smell" out for me. i think i paid 800 plus 100 shipping.
That's the kind of deal im looking for. I want to add another larger torch to my collection. So the more I save on the kiln the more I spend on a torch and new tools. Im sick of using glass female fittings for g on g tools. Im also looking for a reamer that is hallow. Anybody know where they sell those?

Those are the male and female ground glass joint holders......... $45 a pop. You wanted a tapered/hollow reamer too, so remember you can use the 14mm or 19mm female holder as a reamer too and its hollow. :)

so let's see some double-stacked wig-wags. maybe throw some bitch windows in there as well. :)
Sounds like a challenge! A contest to see who can do a double layered spoon or slide the best.............. I've only done ONE double layered thing before, and was less than impressed by the results, but I learned a *lot* while doing it........

What would the prize be? Cant be the losers pipe thats no fun haha ;)

wig-wags are for girls. get yours to do yours. :)

i have NOTHING to prove, i'm not really a glass blower. ;)

i don't spout off about what i know. i don't claim this does this or that does that. i simply blow glass and post pics. the rest is just drama. :)

im on for a challenge... never tried windows or double layered. thanks for the info.
If you've done a stuff n puff, its the same, except you cant puff you can only stuff. Put in in the other like a dick in a condom then on the balls side tack it down with some heat to keep it steady then "stick stack" air suck it from "tip to balls". Sorry for the overly penis comparisons, but its easy to understand. :) When you have a spiraled section inside of a section that is half color half clear and wigwagged or spiraled or whatever then the layer under it will show.......... The termination on the tip sides should already be completed and you do both terminations on the balls side (blowtube side) when you finish the piece after puffing out whereever you want the next tube to go..........
