if you can't afford the 50 to join i doubt you'll be able to afford any of the glass either. i think the whole point of the 50 dollars is to weed out all the "looky-loos". ;)

No lookie loo for me ... I have not one problem dropping cash for high end glass... But c'mon $50 ... It should be more like $20 they would still weed out people.

I'd say the average price of a BoroMarket auctioned glass piece is probably around the $100-$200 range...... The pieces you buy will generally be less than the head shops selling them, so theres your $50 back generally on your first purchase. If your the type of customer who likes to buy a $20-$50 dry spoon and cheaper stuff, then BoroMarket is most certainly not the right place for you to shop, all of the import head shops on the Internet already sell all of that quantity stuff by the boat load, BoroMarket is much more heady/specialized..........

My $0.02, oh, and any glass artists, you can join boromarket and sell for free, no $50 required.....

If your buying high end glass why are you so scared about the 50 bucks? Like researchkitty said I made that back in one good pick up??

I can understand your skepticism. I can guarantee you will be able to get your hands on pieces you would of never had access to otherwise, so yes. I think its worth the 50 bucks... :)

By the way, I dont know if this was discussed with respect to BoroMarkets price to join.......

They charge $0 to sell. They charge $0 to buy. They make no other money unless they sell ads (which sell for a few dollars a month). Unlike eBay, where you are free to register, sellers understand that THEY pay the fees, and they price it in the item accordingly. If Boromarket started to charge me to sell there, I'd simply raise prices.......

I guess what I'm saying is your fucked no matter how you do it, but as it sits right now, Boromarket has the best selection of glass direct from artists as well as a viable marketplace for "previously admired" glass.........

You guys do have a point on making that $50 back on good deals...I don't mind $50, I really don't. I just broke a $350 toro last week and I'm still buying glass. My only issue is where the money GOES to.... If half of it went to NORML, and the other $25 went to bandwidth.. I would jump on it in a heart beat.. But I can't help but to think the $50 is going to some asshole glass aficionado up in the Colorado mountains who is going to waste it away after he collects thousands in his BoroMarket bank account. I mean rollitup doesn't cost any money, I'd gladly donate if I could - But that's because I know my donation would go entirely to RIU and nobody else.

I just remember when it was $20. I thought it was outrageous then so I closed my browser and put my wallet down... As far as I know they operated without charging money before, now they saw the opportunity and they are raking up the cash.

Yeah.... I dont know... I guess I just look at things differently? I see the fee as a good thing, and like researchkitty said, they could be charging %'s of final price, or some ebay style of charging which would be terrible.
