dont go by a set time to water. if the soil is dry at the top check the bottom and if its dry WATER... i do full grows in pots that sizr due to spacial concens and water every other day

that's good to know it can be done because all I have left are gallon pots.

transplanted today (day 15) with no problems...it's been about less than an hour and they're way perkier than they were before. woot!

i mean they wont grow as big or as fast but great results can still be achieved

The part about not having a set water schedule is correct. During veg, I only water when the plant needs it, which is when she begins to droop noticeably. Some say this stresses the plant, NOT TRUE. When growing in doors in containers (1-3 Gal. Pots) alot of growers have trouble determining when to water. Usually using the " Lift the Pot" Method or following a set schedule. The problem with the "Lift the Pot" method is that overall, it is inaccurate because so many factors can make the pot feel heavier or lighter. The problem with following a schedule is that if you set your watering time to early you could over water you plants causing them to become root bound. When the very bottom of the pot stays contantly moist from overwatering, roots gather at the bottom of the pot because roots naturally search downward for water. When the soil is allowed to dry thoroughly the roots go in search of water in left, right, up and downward dirctions allowing the roots to utilize all of the rootball instead of just collecting at the bottom of the pot. Proper watering(and pruning) is the key to growing "Bonsai" mother plants which when done correctly, will live for years in veg in 1-2 quart pots. When you water you plants (1/2 - 1 Gal. of water for 1-3 Gal. pots), it should be done in two parts. give them half of their water and the other half 45 min later. DO NOT BE ALRMED BY THE POOL OF WATER, IT WILL ABSORB INTO THE MEDIUM. Once you get a feel for you plants and their needs, it'll get easier. Im at the point to where when i water there is only a few teaspoons of water left in the catch tray, all the rest was absorbed by the soil.

Hey Mud, u still with us buddy? ill get some pics up soon of my girls from 3weeks flower. the 2 sativas are taking the longest, the hybrid clone and the indica are looking great. Lots of hairs. the indica has started showing PINK pistils on the top of the main cola. Delicious. Im hoping she will get lots more in the coming weeks.
I took 2 clones of the indica, she is too impressive to let her strain die. I had a tray of seeds that i kept from my bagseed when i was living in Nebraska( Good weed everywhere) when i moved to Deep South and found that the bud here was ditchweed, i scraped up a few seeds from the tray and i got her. she has the best looking flowers, the most robust growth and if i remember, she was pretty potent. she veged for 36 days, after about day 25 she dident get any taller, she just gained girth. when she was put into flower she stretched from 10in. to 21 inches and she hasent gotten any taller, PURE INDICA. The perfect indoor strain. the 2 sativas look good, but one has stretched to 25in. so i tied that bitch down.....and she is still getting taller. Once this grow is done, ill just be growing my Indica strain and other Indica strains only, sativas are to much work for a small indoor grow. Once again sorry for the long posts. BTW, your ladies(hopefully) are looking good have you found a way to check your pH yet? you may never need it but it doesent hurt and a liquid test can be found at walmart in the aquarium section for $5 and it lasts for 250 tests

Oh yea, I'm still here. There hasn't been a whole lot of change since the transplant...both plants are still pretty short and stocky...I'd say the biggest one is about 5-6in" and equally as wide leaf to leaf, which I'm hoping is a good sign, the leaves are going from a dark green to almost a dark bluish color...dunno if that's healthy or not...seems like it should be awesome...lots of nodes too...

get some pics up there, I'd definitely like to check it out. you're right about the smoke in the south being shit...I never come across any name brand chron only "A's" or "B's"

I'm actually kickin the idea around of learning how to make some hash, lol seems a shame to let everything go to waste.

but I haven't had a chance to go get the pH meter yet...everytime I'm at the store I'm usually high so it always slips my mind...I've just been given them distilled water and it seems to be okay so far...i've been meaning to get some more lights as well since I got 6 more seedlings sticking out of the dirt...dammit i'm forgetting everything

So this is week 3 and about a few days after the transplant. Plant B was lagging but seems to be catching up now...and the other seedlings are only a week old. Their leaves seem huge in comparison to the 1st week of the other plants....i'm thinking it's due to me switching from the MG to the Fafard 4p...atleast it's what i'm hoping. Anyway, new pics, let me know what you think!

Mud, im sorry to tell u, but ur plants look a little small for 21 days old. the should look like a small bush and have a diameter of of about 9-12 inches and have about 6 nodes, maybe their just slow growers but mine are usually bigger. significantly bigger at 21 days. Provided below is a link to a post i made showing my plants in veg, i think youll see the difference. the two on the right were 18 days from seed, The bigger Indica in the upper right was at like 35 days veg. the lower right is a clone. These are the same plants i showed you, just in veg. BTW, those pots are 10 in. in diameter

well the stunt chould have resulted from using the smaller pots.... looks like you had yours in 3 or 5 gallons he might have got a little root bound in the small pots

i'm thinking they're pretty small myself...they got about 5 nodes but aren't as bushy as I would like them to be...i'm thinking it was the wrong medium (MG), temps and maybe got a little root bound in the 3" pots...as soon as I transplanted them they took off... however I added a few more lights and now the temps are hanging around 87-90 degrees even with a DIY AC cooler...dunno what to do to get them where they need to be,,,any suggestions would be most helpful

all those reasons you just gave and u missed the most impotant one.....YOUR PH.....Dont become one of those MG Haters, I grow in MG and have nothing but success, but only after dialing in my pH. Trust me that where your prob lies.

-P.S. Maybe i just lied, MG is your prob, KINDA. It has a starting pH of 5.1 which is way low for Cannabis, so it has to adjusted before it can work properlly.
But most soils have to be adjusted with either Lime, or chemicals, some even come pre adjusted but pH can still fluxuate if fertilizers are added or you water is very acidic or alkaline, so it not always fool proof. even a cheap liquid test can at least tell you what you waters pH is , so that u have some guess.

as far as your temps i would say just invest in one of thesehttp://www.hvacquick.com/scfnconfig.php?fm=DB&PHPSESSID=j9ahd2c2ndrt1unspgn6fdojm6...they seem simple enough to wire to a regular plug and they come in good CFM's. the average closet would use about 80 cfms

yeah, i've been looking for those at lowes and such..the plan is to get through atleast the end of the month until I get my return back and then I can drop a few bucks on all the rest of that shit...it's weird, what started as a simple box grow really seems to be getting alot more pricier than i originally wanted, lol

grow rooms are never complete. Theirs always sumthing that can make it better. I say that if someone isent ready to spend at least $150-$400 on a grow then dont do it. i would say you have about 50-100 bucks left to spend before you can sit back and let'em go. that should cover a good exhaust fan and a pH Tester, And maybe few more lights. I felt it was to much too, but now that i see my girls at 4 weeks flower, it SOOOOOOO worth it. Also, your first harvest of primo bud will more than cover your the costs of you grow equipment.

i also noticed that yourplants 3 finger leaf ets are yellowing, THAT IS TALE-TALE SIGN OF IMPROPER PH....Those leaves should stay green for at least a month in normal cases. BTW If i were u i would go to walmart right now and buy the API pH Test kit for $5. It has 250 tests and is easy to use. If u are using MG w/ferts then it will work because you dant have to discolor you water with extra nutes, if you add any colored nutes to your water then u will get an inaccurate result.

I like pro grow with vermiculite, an worm castings....i'm runing about the same as you...22,200 lumens, 5500k also have 2 65w cfls. but they're 2700k for a full spectrum. good luck with your grow....PROPS to ya !
