Standard Socket HPS & MH Bulbs?

I've recently come across some lower wattage HPS and MH bulbs that are advertised to fit in Medium (Standard(I believe?)) sized sockets. The highest wattage I've found of these is 150W so not too much but I was wondering if they actually screw right into and old light socket or if it needs a ballast just like and normal HID.

Standard-socket bulbs screw right into a standard-sized bulb socket but that socket must still be connected to a ballast unless the bulb has a built-in ballast.
