Just want to thank everyone ahead of time for your replies. Any help you can offer would be great, id really appreciate it. A couple friends and myself are planning a grow for the purpose of legally vending to dispensaries and small personal use. One of the group has all knowledge of growing high quality bud, but i have some technical questions that i cant find specific answers to in the forum. According to standard state california laws for my region, we are allowed 6 mature plants per cardholder. Me and another friend plan on getting our recommendations and as for the third person, his mother has one already. If we fill out that gardening form, can we legally grow up to 18 mature plants in her home? We have already done cost calculations, but i fell as if we may have undershot. As a ballpark figure, how much would you guys say would be the total cost for 1 grow of say 15 plants. (Including room setup, lights, electricity, hydropnics setup, nutrients, etc.) Also, if grown under very good conditions, how much is a normal yield for a plant grown indoors hydro? Lastly, my father is the doctor i was planning on asking for a rec. Does anyone know if same name rec's are legal? And, anyone know a good lawyer around LA specifically the San Fernando Valley that i can get a consultation with for legit legal advice? Thank you so much.

Hey buddy! First off welcome to the world of Cannabis Growing!!! What are u growing in? u stated that ur doing indoor right? What kind of light? soil or what medium? IDK where u live but that Cali sun will grow some mean plants why not just start them inside and then move them outside that will help with money? I understand if u want to do indoor though just Remember it cost more all around! my calculations if u wanna do it right ur going to be dropping like 3 grand for 15 plants with the right setup, of course it can always be cheaper but most of the time ur plants will suffer!

if ne1 can give u a cost, its u. you should know everything ur buyin ya kno? we dnt kno the setup ur using, 2 hps bulbs? 4 hps bulbs? maybe some mh bulbs. 400 watts? 100 watts? used, new,. we dnt know how much money ur gonna invest in soil and nutrients, or maybe ur doing hydro which adds a whole different number to the equation. u see theres really no way for us to tell u a realistic figure. what i can tell u is dnt invest in cheap or used products, if u know ur gonna keep doing this, get new shit rite off the bat and make sure u make the best possible grow room u can the first time around, for a good grow room though its gonna take some cash.

like everyone else said bro its gonna be hard for us to give you an accurate guess but i can tell you what i spent when i built my set up. spent about 30 bucks on soil and got everything else free just by asking around at different stores. i grew outside so i didnt have to buy lights or fans. well i wish you the best of luck. happy growing and as always, stay smokey :leaf:

Thanks again guys. From what my friend was telling me we are going to have 3 X 2 8 foot florescent ceiling lights for vegging 22h on 2h off, 100 watts each. For flowering we will have 2 400watt 36k lumens high pressure sodiums going i think 12h on? Gonna be using a soil setup, and for first grow we will be doing watering ourselves, afterwards we will build a hydro setup. Also the first grow will be from clones not seeds. We calculated that with clones, room setup (lights, reflective paper, window A/C, vents), soil & nutrients, and utility bills, we would be hitting up 2000 for an initial grow.
Also, a friend of mine is under the impression that under good grow conditions 15 plants can yield 10 pounds dry, does this seem realistic to anyone?

There used to be a 6 plant mature plant limit in California, but the California Supreme Court struck down any limits in 2008 because that limit wasn't in the initiative, and legislature did not have the power to pass a law amending the Compassionate Use Act. The rule is now that "the quantity possessed by the patient, and the form and manner in which it is possessed, should be reasonably related to the patient's current medical needs." So this means that if the state chooses to bring you to court, you would have to show why each of you needs five plants (which shouldn't be that hard to do), but not that it is automatically legal to have that amount. Counties have guidelines, but you might have trouble convincing the judge that your back pain is so bad that you need to meet Oakland's guidelines of 72 plants max.

Electricity is the biggest monthly expense. 10 pounds from 15 plants under two 400 watt lights is fantasy. The most expert growers under the best yielding conditions (1000 watts, co2, proper trimming, hydro, perfect balance of nutrients, ph, ventilation, etc. etc.) can maybe get, depending on the strain, 2 lbs per 1000 watt light, and many experts get 1 to 1.5 lbs per 1000. If you get 1 lb in dirt on your first grow under your two 400's, you'll be lucky.

honestly i think ur best bet is to get some 1000 watt lights, u can use a mh bulb during veg, but if u wanna save urself a little cash u can use the hps throughout veg and flower
