DENVER � The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment is accepting applications for members of a medical marijuana registry advisory committee.
The committee will advise the departments executive director regarding rule-making required by two new laws � SB 109, which establishes rules for doctors who recommend patients for medical marijuana, and HB 1284, which restricts dispensaries activities, allows local governments to ban dispensaries, and clarifies what constitutes a medical marijuana caregiver.
The advisory committee will consist of nine members of the public, plus the director of the CDPHEs medical marijuana registry and the states chief medical officer (or his designee).
The other nine members will represent one of the following positions:
A patient with a valid, active medical marijuana registration card; a primary caregiver registered with the department; an owner/operator of a medical marijuana center, as defined in HB 1284; a physician with an unrestricted, active Colorado license who recommends medical marijuana to appropriate patients; a Colorado licensed health-care worker who specializes in addiction medicine; a Colorado licensed health-care worker who specializes in chronic pain management; a Colorado licensed health-care worker who specializes in oncology/cancer care; a representative of the Colorado law enforcement community; and a Colorado district attorney or representative of the district attorney community.
