The popular method is using a cell phone charger, most CPU fans are 12v..you just strip the ends, attach, preferably electric tape it up, and plug it in.

Electronics is a hobby of mine, if you could give me some more details on the fans, brand, model, if possible voltage and most importantly, CURRENT, Id be glad to tell you how to get it going without burning it out.

yea they are 12volts i have no idea what brand they're just plastic fans with motors and wires with plugs at the ends for a cpu

12 electric fans are pretty simple and easy.

You can use batteries (i.e. a charged car battery would last for about 24 hours per charge, or constantly charging it with a battery charger).

I like the previous cell phone charger idea. That would probably work well, but don't be surprised if your fans pull too much current and overheat the cell chargers.

An old laptop computer power chord (with a 12 V output) would be sweet to use, too. You could find all kinds of junk power cords lying around that put off 12 V. Like old answering machines, or cordless telephones bases, etc.

Then just twist the fan wires together with the cord and plug it in. As long as your house is up to code in the breaker box, you have no fear of exploding or burning anything down. ;-)

will hooking them up to a old plug in burn them out?

wow uhh they sell connecter pices for cpu fans at walmart, office depot, office max and espacailly comp usa this way you dont have to stip wires on your fan and save them for other stuff the connector cords are all under 14.99 i checked,,,hope this helps,,,,,

I'd need 2 of em and i already stripped the cords...I tried wiring them to a plug for an old phone base it didn't work and they don't really stick to my cell phone battery so they still aren't running right now i have a little fan on the floor blowing in there. do you think my 150watt light could run off that i mean i doesn't get very hot as it is?

alll you gotta do is strip the fan wires and cut off hte end adapter part of the cell phone charger. 4get bout the white wire on the fan its useless. jus hook up the red and black wire to the stripped cell phone charger

I'm going to go try it dude. What if the charger has two wires do you twist them together??

Just strip the ends of your fans, and a 12V phone charger... must have a few laying around from back before usb... then you could just easily tape them up with electrical tape, or use the actual connectors they sell at hardware stores and stuff... don't know the name but just those little plastic looking thimble type things... check this post bro it answered all my questions:

You can even hook up like 2 or 3 fans at once... just make sure they arn't over 12V. Good Luck
