Stealth grow boxes?

Hi,

I was reading the online manual for one of those stealth grow boxes (The mini-cool cab, Bloombox, etc.) and I don't understand something:

The manual talks about a 5 week grow cycle: seed (or clone) to harvest in 5 weeks. You switch to flowering at the beginning of week two. That's only 4 weeks of flowering? Would the little bit of bud that would have grown in that time be "ripe" enough to be worth smoking that early?

Has anybody here actually USED one of these setups who can discuss how effective/ineffective they are (I know they are too expensive but all I care about is how well they work)?

hmmm.. where'd you read that. i have a stealth op but i didn't think i could beat the normal flowering time of the plant (8-10 weeks).

I don't know that this is is BEATING your normal flowering time, but it sounds like they are just advising harvesting too early to me - which I THINK would just ruin the bud?

Which unit do you have, and how do you keep the plants from growing too tall and forcing you to harvest early? Do you like your unit?

Here is the link to the instructions I mentioned so you can check it out for yourself:

I just talked to the guy on the phone, and he claims that the flowers will be fully developed after 5 weeks. He claims that because it is using a fogger and hydroponics and SOG method, that the plants just ripen faster than the 8-12 weeks other indoor methods require?

It just seems like a lot of money to put out if the buds might turn out premature and I don't want to trust a salesman saying yea it's gonna be great when it seems too good to be true? lol

Hey,
I work for BC Northern Lights so I know the manual pretty well it doesn't say that anywhere in our manual or the feeding schedule we include. Our feeding schedule is based on an 8 week flowering time which is of course an average & 2 to 3 weeks in veg depending on the height of the plants. Just thought I would let you know drop me a line if you have any other questions or comments, cheers.

I don't know how I didn't see this reply before now, but thank you. The online manual I was referring to in my original post was for a "cool cab" from one of BC Northern Lights' competitors.

From what I can tell about it online, the Bloombox looks really cool too - but it is also extremely expensive. Then again, maybe you get what you pay for...I don't know?

Anyway, thanks for taking the time to answer and sorry I did not notice it and thank you sooner.

Hey Everybody,
Jake here from BC Northern Lights.
To my knowledge there's still no way to speed things up just by using a cabinet or hydro or Co2 or anything like that. There is something interesting that might work but I still haven't tried it yet. Apparently according to what I've read if you flower for 12 hrs with the light on but only 6 hrs of dark every night it's supposed to mature in about 3/4 of the time because your tricking the plants into an 18 hr day night period instead of a 24 hr one. We have some customers in the field that are going to try this for us because our boxes are computer controlled we can just send them a chip to re-program their box. There's a lot of other reasons why our cabinets rock but that hands free aspect and the ability to experiment without being home every day is a huge thing. We also provide unlimited tech support with our cabinets so customers can call in every day if they want to for grow support or if they ever have an issue with the machine itself. So they are expensive but you do get what you pay for because we put a lot of thought and hard work into the manufacture and design. I've been using a Bloombox myself for over a yr now but it would be awesome if some other people out there would post some of their experiences on the forum. If you ever want to email me directly feel free my address is jake@bcnorthernlights.com
Thanks and happy gardening out there!
