Stealth Grow LED w/ Secret Jardin

How well would a Stealth Grow LED work in a Secret Jardin? I'm planning on a 400w MH/HPS grow but and wondering if the Stealth Grow LED produces good results...

Alot of people are using led lights.Imo you will not get the same size buds if you pick led over mh or hps. They can veg good but for flowering i would go with a hps or even a mh.The good leds unfortunately are pricey and you can get both mh and hps cooltubed for the same price. So yeah i would stick with the hid.

thanks for the info. the thought of a super quiet system sounds VERY appealing, but I guess the fan venting air would still create the most sound regardless of what kind of light you're using.

You obviously missed High Times LED coverage and side by side tests of a 90W UFO LED system and a 400w HPS grow. The LED won hands down. High Times claims the potency was better too.

I'm willing to bet you are another one of those that will trash a magazine that has been at the forefront of our hobby for decades. If you have an open mind and are willing to look into the now and the future, check out this article..

If you come back and say HT doesn't know shit about growing weed I'm going to disown ya.. lol...

No, not yet. I was very very close to investing a few hundred bucks on some pretty killer looking high output next generation leds w/enhanced spectrum for growth(not the bullshit ones most led makers say are enhanced, really enhanced ones), but even the guy who works with the company to review its products said that while they have the best on the market right now and it is nice they dont make any heat and work alright they are not at the level they are claimed and while they claim the lights will replace an hps and all that w/spectrum and intensity they are really about half as good as they claim to be, so the light they claimed would replace a 400w hps is more like a 250w hps at best and the one they claimed would beat a 600w hps is about equal to a 400w. I decided to invest in ceramic metal halide and am anxiously awaiting their arrival. I was so bummed when i found out the leds were not actually up to what they said but finding out more about the cmh made up for it. Im still thinking of getting a led ufo to test, but since this appears to be a serious grow your setting up for best results I must say get the hps/mh(or cmh, its basically a combo of each lights strengths rolled into one-runs cooler, dont have to switch bulbs between stages and the spectrums beat both mh and hps and waste less energy on useless spectrum ranges and focuses on the reds and bluess you need.

I suggest you stop listening to your friend and read the article. It won't be much longer that HIDs will be viewed as environmentally irresponsible. I wouldn't be surprised if HID goes the way of the incandescent bulb. the technology is here today, not tomorrow. Today's hurdle is pricing of super efficient LEDS that hit the right spectrumas. Some LEDs can cost manufacturers $10-$15 per diode.

That article is nice and all, but wheres the proof? i dont see any side by sides or anything....I see one pic of plants growing under hid and the rest are all under leds. They may say its a side by side but if thats the case why didnt they bother to do coparison pics of different stages in the plants growth under each one?

So what are you accusing HT of? Manufacturing results? LOL
Sooner or later, with green house gasses and pollution and the cost of electricity, growing with HID will not only be irresponsible, it will be criminal.... So much energy is wasted on producing a product that could be grown for a fifth of the cost.

Really nice peice. It got me wanting to try leds after all of that info.Ill look into it but they even said that the most effective leds are between 500 to 600 dollars but it saves you way more on elec cost.So i will be trying these out in the near future.

What results? I didnt see one side by side comparison pic, nothing personal but do you really believe everything you read at face value and require no real proof?
I guess you need to see a tumor to believe that cancer exists?

Don't get me wrong, I know where you are coming from. but even when these side by sides are done in the open by our own forum growers, people pull shit like, "you should of used clones" or "It wasn't fair"

Whatever...

You have High Times, High fucking Times, telling you that a 90W UFO out produced a 400w HPS and you say bull shit simply because you didn't see the weight with your own two eyes....

wow...

Do you think Iraq was a farce? or did you see it with your own two eye?

You can believe whatever you want, ht authors are all gods and can never be wrong and could never ever make info more appealing or anything by not actually showing half the info that could/would contradict their stories and claims.
Their are plenty of pics of iraq and tumors, but i dont see any doing side by side experiments or anything....If they cant show us pics like you can see with tumors or of iraq that are real and well documented no i dont believe it. I dont care what they say, your hero worship of them is kind of interesting though.

LOL.. They have been the pioneer magazine in this hobby/industry for decades. I guess I'll buy your story and not theirs.... wait, you don't have a story.....

Sorry DD, you are like many here, set in your ways. Jesus would have to come back before you would use LEDs.

bull, i said before i just spent alot of time looking them over and contemplating using them and then getting excited when reading what the makers say and then reading their customer reviews. I would love to use leds, i already said that. Didnt you read my post before?
"I was very very close to investing a few hundred bucks on some pretty killer looking high output next generation leds w/enhanced spectrum for growth(not the bullshit ones most led makers say are enhanced, really enhanced ones),"
"Im still thinking of getting a led ufo to test,"

how is that "stuck in my ways"

I've always heard that UFOs were shit and I believed it, without even trying one. I just bought into the BS that was going around. I think a lot of people do that today. I hope that when you do decide to give one a try it meets your expectations. I'd rather you be an ambassador for LEDs then telling your friends they're shit. If you read the article, the technology to build an LED system that blows the balls off of HID lamps is already here. The problem is, some of the manufacturing costs of those enhanced diodes.

I've seen grows where the LEDs won hands down watt for watt, which is the only fair comparison.

Sorry about the jesus line, I have been dying to use it. lol

How would a 400w MH/HPS system translate to an LED System? Would you simply buy a single 600w LED unit? Would this single unit be the only light you needed during veg and flowering?

It's be amazing to not have to deal with heat and use electricity much more efficiently, especially if you get great results.

I did a search but wasn't able to find a guide to LED growing.. Has anyone seen one?

Rather than look for a guide on growing with LEDs, do some research on LED grow lights themselves. Everything you already know about MJ will still apply, you'll just have more efficient lighting.

The 90W LED UFO High Times tested was equivalent to a 400w hps system. The equivalency was determined based on PAR. PAr has something to do with photoreactionary radiation that is measured with an instrument. One of the downsides is, while they might be equivalent in beneficial light, LEDs are directional, meaning that good light is focused, unlike a traditional hid system. The lightprint of the two lights is not comparable. That 90W UFO was good for covering about a 2.5' sq ft area or 10 plants in a SOG set up, where a 400W hps with mylar could easily cover 9-12 sq ft.
