Stoned Caterpillars

I would gladly join a caterpillar haters club:evil: and they do seem to like certain strains more than others...the more trichomes the more they eat. to anyone who has smoked any of their finished product after using "caterpillar killer" or any BT product...does it affect the taste, smell or high?

I hate caterpillars with a passion!! Lil fucks are eating my plant alive. I mean they are only on two branches that I see, but I'm like 3 weeks from finishing my first outdoor crop, just two plants. But still it's a 4+ ft GDP plant. And two main cola tips just broke off when I was examining the strange browning and folding up of the leaves around the tip of the cola. And I find a bunch of caterpillars in there, and a bunch of lil balls of shit or babbies. What do I do? I can't afford to lose this plant.

Damn fellas, I'm in the same boat. I still have plenty of good tips on my baby, but the damn things are coming up everywhere! Every day I find more, and they have eaten so much that the tip of the colas just crumble and fall off. I'm disgusted my beautiful almost done outdoor GDP lady is infested with piece of shit caterpillars, just leavin shit all over my nugs. I sprayed the shit out of her today with a whole can of caterpillar killer! I hope it doesn't affect the bud. I'm gonna flush for a week or so, and hope that works. I was debating on bringing them in at night, but it's too late. There must be larva in there cuz there are lil baby ones poppin up everywhere. What to do. I don't wanna chop her early. She is gonna swell so much in the next few weeks.

I'm in the same boat. Someone get in here and let me know what to do with this. I'm heading out today to buy a bug tent and a few praying mantis, see if that will work. I'm reeeeeally reluctant to spray anything on my nugs :(

they do more damage than spidermites!, there is no help now its two late in flowering to spray on the buds, iv lost half a crop to them, wait til you start to clip your leaves and you see those damn lil green worms twisted in between you buds, the only thing you can do is look inbetween your buds and use some tweezers and remove any u see, but you have to be quick , because if they see you thell hide back in the bud, and if that doesnt help, harvest the buds with bugs, i know its early but if you dont the worms will ruin them compleatly, it seems every year i grow out doors i run in to those lil fuckers, they love bud more than we do, but early detection will elemate the worms in late flower, the gross thing is when your mancuring your buds and you cant tell from worm guts from the reson on your sissors!,
so if my plants are about a week or two away from maturing...is it too late to spray bt? i found 3 pillers 3 days ago. today i pulled of six. maybe i harvest now? thanks for any help

dude well deal with it ASAP, by the time you harvest you realize the damage was alot worse. even the buds that were still intact on mine somehow lost potency. spray them with a hose really really well. then if you can submerse the plant in water for like 10 secs do it, i donno how long the caterpillars can hold their breath. and i can't help you about the spray, but if you're pretty close to harvest i'd be worried. have any clones you'd like to trade?

Heheheh welcome to the caterpillar wars :) Moths that fly around at night are the apparent culprits, laying their bastard eggs all over our lovelies.

My personal combat strats include the neem oil - but it's too late for that stuff right now for me. So I've gone to combing my plants thoroughly every day with tweezers looking for the little bastards as they come out of their eggs.
Then i came up with the bright idea of mosquito netting, I got tired of the eggs :(

Since I rigged up the netting life has been a lot better, now I'm just catching a few babies here and there on the daily exam.

Left unchecked these things will destroy an entire plant so please don't just leave them on.

Also - one little caterpillar didn't eat your plant man, if you look really closely or hang it out to dry for a few days you will see the babies drop off it as the plant loses moisture.

When i had this problem, id pick them out everyday with tweezers and id find the egg sites and scrape them off. They're usually found in between the buds. They pretty much look like little black pieces of dirt all in clumps. didnt have that prob anymore afterwards

Thanks to all who posted, the egg scraping has worked excellent, I also added Azitrol to my weekly batch of hydro food which has worked beautifully. I found the same exact Azitrol compount for 1/4 the price out of Oregon. Go to rickspray.com and the manufacturer is Gowan. Instead of paying $500 per gallon at the hydrostore this is the same compound at $175 per gallon and will last a long time at 1 tbs per 10 gallons of water... Cheers all
