Stop mixing peat and coco

to many new growers seem to think its a good idea to mix peat and coco into a soil mixture, then they all end up on here posting the problems .
Pick one either grow in a peat based soil or coco, they are different mediums and need to be treated differently.
never grown in coco before but from what i understand you need to water it everyday(till runoff i think?) and ph to around 5.8
I've grown in promix pretty much my whole time growing, you don't need to water it every day just when it starts to dry out a bit, you dont want it to stay to wet or too dry, also PH can very from 6(using salt based nutes) to 6.5-7 in a organic mix

This grow is part recycled media, part fresh Promix (mostly cause i wanted to increase the amount of peat/coco in the mix), part backyard compost + a couple of handfuls of organic amendments. I haven't yet taken the leap of faith into no-till. I know you've seen my prior posts so i think you know i'm into minimal intervention growing. I just took two back-to-back one week trips and my plants did just fine without me.

Peat is not the same thing by location. Most peat is incompatible with coco. Michigan peat works very well with coco. Too broad based term. Why the confusion.

I'm talking more about new growers that just started that mix them together then end up on here asking what's wrong. Then they say they put coco in the promix for aeration .
just pick one or the other if your just starting out, gain some experience and then move onto mixing mediums together.
not trying to offend anyone, it's just i see alot of new growers try this and end up with lots of problems

Hahaha. That's why I said this is gonna be an interesting thread. Everybody's got their own opinion.

You should've named the thread "Stop mixing peat and coco, and stop flushing", lol.

Here is a current experiment do to this very topic.
White widow autos. Same start. Left is forum based soil mix. Right is coco/peat and amendments. 21 days from germ. A new grower 1000 miles away testing my mix. I believe the results and mine. soil experiment.jpg

I'm curious, what does incompatible mean? To me incompatible means i want sex every day and my (now ex) wife would be okay with once a year.

The peat in Promix is Canadian Sphagnum.
Exactly. Spagnum. Not ancient decayed vegetation under water. Our peat is a rich, actually hot, dark organic soil so to speak. Not the same. 009.jpg
