Nowstopwhining, im doing a similar sog, but ill be growing 40 plants and harvesting 10 plants every 2-3 weeks. What are some methods for trimming up the crop and keeping the top cola? I understand the method of a sog and how it works but im looking for a more detailed tutorial or forum that talks about trimming the lower branches/leaves and ways of keeping only the top cola. Did this make sense?

NSW might not get around to answering your Q (i think he might be bannded) but basically you want to cut off everrything thats on the bottom 1/3 of the plant, leaving the top 2/3's...
do this after two weeks of flowering to account for the stretch that will occur...
its a technique called lollypopping...
i think if you do a search for threads with that term you'll find some more detailed info with pics...

I give both bloom and veg nutes.
For the most part the way it works with my Foxfarm nutes is I give 1 tsp of growbig, and two-three tsp of tigerbloom. All throughout flower.
If I veg them I still give them a little bit of bloom nutes during veg.

The technique is called lollipopping like lumberjack said all you do is remoive the growth from the lower 3rd of the plant. Break off the little branches or leaves and then rub of the new growth with your fingers as it appears. This will give you one big fat cola on top. I got about an ounce off of each girl this way. So if your looking to harvest 10 plants your looking at about 7-10 ounces every couple of weeks.
Right now Ive got 4 strains on the way. Afghan Kush, Hashberry, White Skunk, and Hindu Kush
I have come to the conclussion that LSTing or Fimming are my favorite techniques but obviously they dont apply to a SOG very well.

Yeah they are both good seed companies. Im excited, I dont like Nirvana much after this last run with their seeds.

UPDATE
Well this is the belladonna I harvested...Mmmmm im stoned.
Theres noticable purpling in the buds. Very stinky and sticky, A little leafy but its still a good smoke. Very heady high that mellows out and stones you towards the end...definitely like it.
Heres the flowering room...ummmm yeah sorry if the pictures arent up to par...like I said im pretty damn stoned.
