I just got this meter, It is a Hanna HI981239 Combo Meter and in the instructions it says to put a couple drops of storage solution in the cap before storing it. I don't have any storage solution, I intend to get some but that won't be for a few days, if I store it without the storage solution is it gonna fuk up my meter......is there anything else I can use in place of storage solution? THANKS in advance

the point is to not let the tip get dry which allows residue to build up and can eventually affect the readings of your meter.

some distilled or ro water will work just fine. tap water can be used as well.

Hi Dj :)

Yeah the guys coverd it pretty well allready :)

Funny thing is , I was just looking for some way of cleaning my PH meter and i seen this post :)

I have a bit of blackish buildup forming in the hard to reach area of my PH meter ... anyone know anything that can be used to clean it ... or do i have to buy some cleaning solution ?

Right on.......Ill note that too, I was kinda thinking all that shit they try to sell you for storing and cleaning was just an attempt at gettin more $$$ out of us. And the stuff ain't cheap

its exactly what they do, they are reliable meters so once you've bought one they know your not getting another for years , so fob a load of un-needed rinse and storage crap on ya!
