Strain issues

I have purchased some Mimosa Evo seeds from Barney's and even the grow was completed and good looking, the leaves did not had a single spot of purple as suggested in the picture taken from Barneys website. Same purple leaves were found in a grow journal from a guy in Canada.

My "Mimosa Evo" leaves were just green. Not a single trace of purple.

Do you think it can be a mistake from Barneys which might shipped different type of seed strain instead?

Have you experienced same issue before?

Most color changes for cannabis happen due to steering the environment with strain being only part of the equation. Here is a link that splains the situation. Basically certain strains have chemicals that predispose a plant to color up if certain environmental triggers are reached but you must steer a grow with environment to get these changes.

Well, this is another very complex hybrid which includes lineage from a BUNCH of other complex hybrids -each of them capable of presenting any number of genetic traits. Barney's obviously took a picture of the best looking cultivar they had, but there's always a chance that there could have been hundreds (if not thousands) of alternative expressions within the same lineage that didn't look the same, smell the same or taste the same as the one you were expecting.

It's pretty much of a crapshoot these days.

That picture is somewhat misleading, as well. It appears that the purple is only coming through on some of the smaller leaves. By the time that bud gets trimmed, there will be very little purple left.

And yes, I have experienced this variance among almost every seed breeder I've purchased from. There are a few people who have been working their lines longer -like Archive Seed Bank, for example. I haven't gotten anything great from them, but I've gotten a few things that were pretty good. Everything I've gotten from Hazeman Seeds, on the other hand, is just this side of hemp -terrible!

I've been growing a long time and I've only rarely gotten anything really exceptional. It takes time and luck to get the seeds....and then you have to also know how to grow them, too. :)

Less potent but more medicinal.
Depends what your treating suppose you could argue it might have more antioxidant content though Vs green though cos it's higher in anthocyanins but I reckon that's why there weaker as well cos green is better for photosynthesis Vs purple foliage

Nah it's luck of the draw/genetics plus some other factors even some stuff with "purple" in the name doesn't reliably produce purple phenos as much as some would like so you can't go off of that neither if you want purple look at pck or it's crosses it's fairly common in those lines but as others said for the most part it's over rated the green weed is always the best ime

Just my opinion but purple is overrated .
Bag appeal at best. Purple weed used to sell 10x faster than green weed even if the purple wasn't as good. People get fooled about stuff way to easily and it shows how corporations use marketing to fool consumers then rake in the big $. The Internet just takes that problem and concentrates it by 100000000000000000000x
Now don't get me wrong a nice purple plant sure is pretty. Lol but it's not something I look for when strain selecting at all.

I like purple weed. It generally has some type of nice berry grape terps and makes for a chill high. A nice break from some of the super high potency strains.

Back in the early 90's when I was growing a lot outdoors we found some plants that had been flattened by a corn harvester . They weren't totally mature but had viable seeds . They had bright purple pistils so we kept a bunch of seeds .

Grew them out the next season and they were the most beautiful plants you ever saw . They purpled up real nice when mature . Thought we had the big money maker until we smoked some . Basically had to give it away .

I asked because i've read many reviews posted by tourist which arrived in Amsterdam and purchased weed from coffeeshops and they got low quality stuff.

Some said that they even ordered different stuff yet still received same shit. So these crossed my mind when my plant didn't appear to look like in the presentation pictures. I thought it was either an order mistake or they even do it on purpose sometimes, thinking you can't do mucj about it after this long period of time. Not to mention that you can't even know what's actually inside those seeds before harvesting.

Reasons and arguments such as growing factors or any other things that can influence the growing process can be anytime mentioned even if you received something else. You can't prove you did everything right as they can't prove the authenticity of the seeds so the grower can always be blamed for an alleged bad growing management which resulted in an unwanted outcome that don't match the ideal growing medium for each strain.

Another thing is that even the strain is 60% indica 40% sativa, the cerebral high is in fact somewhere around 10-20%. You rather feel sedated than high/euforic which i don't know who expect this effect from any smoked weed.

At the same time I have tried some shit from a local dealer and after 3 hits i felt my brain high as fuck and I have abandoned the joint as it was very strong. Something which i didn't expect to get from an unknown weed purchased on the streets. They usually don't sell something that good that you can't get from growing your own stuff. I might need something sativa dominant but i don't want something too powerfull either. I still think what should i buy for the next one.
