Strain Review: Whiteberry and Northern Soul. (PICS)

Ok, so i know ive posted my pics in my other threads, but im seriously hype as hell that i got through my grow, and i actually did it right, lol. So now ill give you a quick rundown of both of these strains, both of which ive harvested over the last 4 days.

Plants: - Paradise Whiteberry, and Seedsman Northern Soul (for this review)
Lighting: - Started with 600w MH/HPS setup, switched to 1000w in the last 3 weeks
Nutrients: - FF trio, BMO Super Plant Tonic, Molasses, Gravity, Purple Maxx, Roots HP Bat Guano, Cal/Mag
Soil: - FF Ocean forest, Perlite, Dolemite Lime, Cottonseed Meal

Whiteberry. She was an absolute pleasure to grow. After the initial troubles i had with my grow (Hydrohut malfunction. The cover had a toxic spray on the vinyl that offgassed onto the plants when heated by the light, causing the plants to yellow, stop growing, and die. I managed to save 60% of my grow by taking the cover of my tent off and replacing it with a homemade one), the Whiteberry was the First to recover from everything, and take off growing again. Once put back into ideal conditions, she sprang back to life, and really needed absolutely no special tending to, other than the usual love i give all my girls, lol.

Once flowering she was a little slow going though. It took her a week longer to show pistils than all the other plants did i believe, but once she did, she took off. Had trichomes sparkling all over her buds by week 4 of flower, and by week 8, she was ready to come down. Not really any burn to speak of, not particularly sensitive to over nuting, but does respond well to purple maxx and gravity.

Her smell and High is amazing. You can smell the white widow on the plant really easily, but if you get in really close and take a whiff, or just flat out rub the bud a little bit, out bursts this SOUR, fruity blueberry scent. Once its released, the smell just takes over your entire growroom. Its freakin beautiful.

If your just smoking a bowl, she has a nice uplifting, energetic high to her. A very social smoke for sure, and i would recommend it to anyone for a good "get shit done" smoke. If your smoking a blunt on the other hand, then a heavy, narcotic stone onsets, and your stuck to whatever the hell your ass is planted to at the time. Great for a night time smoke, if you dont mind smokin a nice fat blunt before bed. I personally prefer a bubbler, and use a different strain for bedtime. I give her a 7 out of 10 for sure. A solid showing from Paradise seeds, and if i were a more experienced grower, she probably would have been a 9.

Half a plant harvested so far, leaving the smaller underdeveloped buds to dense up a bit, and go from useless buds id normally throw in the hash clippings pile, to smokeable nuggletts. Ended up with a Total Wet Weight (once again for half a plant), of about 120g. I didnt weigh it dry yet, but it fills up 4 canning jars, so im gonna figure around 2 oz.

Heres some pics of Whiteberry directly after chopping and a light trim, and also of half of her nugs that i took out of jars after drying and 2 days of curing (gonna go AT LEAST 2 weeks curing) :

Next, a brief review of Seedsman's NORTHERN SOUL. Shes a cross between Northern Lights, and SKunk #1. Basically the same story as Whitberry more or less. Stunted early in growth, but then took off with no problem. She was actually sort of a sleeper - she really didnt stand out at all during the early stages of growth, or even early stages of flower either for that matter. It wasnt until the last 3 weeks that she really (and literally) started to shine. Out of nowhere she was coated from top to bottom in trichomes, and she just looked greasy and amazing looking. In a word, DANK. She put off that unmistakeable Skunky smell that you just wanna keep in your nose n walk around all day with, lol.

As far as the high goes, its some one hit wonder for sure. I smoked a bowl of this shit about 4 days before harvest to test her out. I let her dry properly (testing out my new bud dryer), and i sparked her up in my bubbler. By the time i exhaled my first hit i already felt lightheaded. I took one more hit, and set the pipe down, just to see what kind of potency i was really dealing with. I forgot to pick the pipe back up man. Shes a fuckin knock out, kick you in the ass n laugh at you, stoney couchlock high. N whats surprising is, the trichomes werent even close to half amber. It was probably more like 25-30% amber i think, and if ida let her go any longer, it would have turned into just some straight up medicine for insomnia, because it would have put me instantly to sleep. Instead, i just ended up getting SERIOUSLY interested in some Survivorman, shortly followed by some Pizza rolls. All in all im gonna have to give this strain a 9 out of 10, IMHO. I love this bud, and i love knock out stoney highs. :D

I also only harvested half of this plant aswell, and i ended up with 174g. I just chopped her down today, so i wont know what i can expect from her dry until the day after tomorrow, but man, shes stinkin out the room shes drying in, ill say that much for her. Shes the star so far man.

Heres just a few pics of her fresh off the plant, and trimmed up. I threw my watch in for scale (its a 50mm watch, lol) :

---Hope you guys enjoyed. In a week or so ill be doing a review on Big Buddha Blue Cheese, Seedsman White Widow, and Dutch Passion Twilight.

Thanks guys. Im actually a little disappointed in the BlueCheeese to be honest. a Great yielder for sure, but im more concerned with Quality over Quantity at this point. BC is lacking in resin. Shes supposed to be a literal sugar factory late in flowering, and right now i have about 10% amber trichomes, so if shes gonna explode with resin, she needs to hurry the fuck up, lol, cuz she has about a week left to live before i chop her head clean the fuck off :D

--So the Northern is dry (not completely bone dry n ready for curing yet, but dry enough to where i can get an idea of what the dry weight is gonna be), and im ending up with around 2.5 oz from the top half of the plant. So i figure with the bottom half chopped, i should end up with 3-3.5 oz overall dry weight, which is amazing man, i never thought id yield that mu9ch frrom any plant :D N whats REALLY cool, is that both my blue cheese plants have way more buds on both plants than Northern Soul did, and the buds are just as huge sizewise, and just as dense. Theyre literally rock hard nuggets man, i can barely squeeze them.

--But ill get into that next week when i chop her down, ill give a full report :D ;)

Great looking plants but I got to ask, where did you get info on whiteberry cross. Cause I have one it is 4 ft tall. Im at day 29 budding I have a 16 inch cola bud. It does smell a little like white widow but with mine it reeks of lemon. Its so bad that you touch a bud 10 minutes later you can still smell lemon. Maybe just different pheno.
My big buddha blue chees is very sativa tons of trichs also at day 29. I will try to get some pics if you would like.
Good job on your harvest.

wow sounds lime your doin an awesome job with your ladies too man. But what do u mean where did I get y info on the whiteberry cross?

N I topped my WB twice early in veg so shed stay nice n short, n if your girl smels anything like mine did, I know exactly what you mean man. I miss having that stank in my tent lol.

--as far as blue cheese goes, you probably got a different pheno than I did or soMethin man, cuz I took really good care of all my girls n the two
Blue cheeses just didn't do it for me. They yielded alot but I'm more interested in quality over quantity.

-- but yeah, if u could elaborate on your original question I'd appreciate it man. I ended up with 5 12-13 inch main colas on my girl, she just didn't yield much(about an oz from the tops, and the lower half is drying now, probably around a 1/2, give or take. Check out my journal if u wanna know any specifics. My current grow starts about halfway through the journal.

I was just asking where you found out whiteberry is white widowxblueberry. I could never find out what made whiteberry.
I'm glad you said you topped them too though. I have a few clones experimenting with, doing different cuts. I have one that I have lollipopped and main shoot is now 4 shoots. Going to be fun.
On your blue cheese, so you just dont think it was good smoke then? I havent tried mine like I said only 29 days in. Appreciate your opinions and advice.

sorry man I have been to stoned just reread everything. You didnt say it was that cross you were talking smell. Sorry man. That is still weird though to me, cause it sounds just like mine but lemony instead of bluberry. Definately a sour. Hope when it is done it tastes as good as it smells.

hey nice grow,i too just suffered through off gassing and lost everything, untill i realised it was the tent so what i want to know is mine all show the classic symtoms iron def mag def the yellow all over, now the question is did any of the yellow leaves get back the green and how long did it take, after multiple losses this one i deided it was the tent and chucked it my seeds were 7 days in the tent with clones,im afraid that if the yellow greens up that it will just end up in dead leaf, the most affected was all new growth,so any information would help because if it is a waste of time i will just throw them all away and get new seeds and such, but i lost all my breeding i did.thanks.and good luck from here on in.

whiteberry doesnt have any widow in it, it was paradises hashberry. Before they could get it out on market, there was a hashberry in existence. So they named it whiteberry. I just finished a grow with it, and i was impressed. The final product is outstanding, and the smell description is right on with the sour berry smell.

Good looking nugs!

No way man, I love blue cheese. It's some really high quality bud, I can't complain really, she just sisntndo war I was expecting her to do compared to everything else I've read about her.there is like next to no viable trichomes at all, but she's a knock out smoke to e sure man. I wanna grow her out again, to see if I end up with the same results, or maybe I got something wrong the first time around, and there's something I could have done
Better I'll find out soon enough, but like I said, BC is awesome, and is love to do another run with her for sure.

Now, the berry is EXCELLENT smoke, out of the 4 strains I grew so far, she's my second favorite next to the Northern I grew out. As far as the cross, I always just assumed that's what it was, I never could find that specific info myself either.

Yeah, I don't know bout lemon but definitely a distinct sour berry scent that I've never smelled before on a nugget. Beautiful stuff :D n she tastes as good as she smells man. A really clean smoke- just make sure you flush her good so all her flavors come out.

The leaves that turned yellow won't go green again, bit luckily your plants are young so it don't really matter. As soon as they adjust to being in a non toxic environment, they'll perk right back up, and give you a little green growth spurt. All that yellow garbage won't mean a thing- it'll be at the very bottom of a nice green n lush plant. Just don't give up on them. If off gassing was your problem and you removed the tent, then your golden. just baby them foe about a week n they'll thank you for it bro ;) n thanks for the compliment, n good luck to you too man :D

Hell yeah man impressed with her is one way to put it for sure lol. As soon as I saw what she was turning into I bought a tenpack of her, which was the smartest thing I coulda done IMHO, cuz I definitely wanna keep this strain in my garden at all times--- n maybe even try to find a high yielding strain that's comparable, and breed out a whiteberry cross with maybe something like a sour p n call her sour berry, or or with sensi's big bud n call her
Big berry, lol. But regardless imnkeeping whiteberry in her "pure" form in my garden forever. N thanks for the compliments man, preciate it :D

Congrats on the excellent grow!!!! I've got a Northern Soul flowering as we speak. It's an amazing plant. I turned on the lights one morning and the leaves had all "raised up", exposing the bud sites. It's got another 5 -6 weeks yet, but I'm gonna get a nice yield from it. I also have a couple of Barney's Farms Blue Cheese. I posted some picks on another thread, but I need your input. I'll toss in a couple of pics and someone out there tell me that I am, in fact, growing Blue Cheese. It looks like a freakin' Sativa. Check out the difference in the leaves and the "structure" of the plants. I much prefer Indica. Whad'ya think?

Thanks for any thoughts and/or comments! Peace :peace: :bigjoint:

yeah, the BB blue cheese actually has a couple different phenos and one of them is a tall sativa looking plant. Both of my Blues that i grew out actually ended up being that same pheno, just slightly frosted with trichomes, but tall, and produced huge buds. I guess id grow her again, but only in hopes that i get the indica dominant, more frosty pheno that they show in the picture on the breeders pack. but looks aside, the bud smokes pretty fuckin amazing, and for the potency alone i would grow her out again if i didnt have a shit ton of other strains i wanna grow out first. Im still tryin to find that one strain that i wanna keep growing with forever, but hell, i got a long long time im sure before i find that shit.

Im tellin you though man, your buds are looking realllll nice, and i hope you post up some pics of yours right before harvest. Cant wait to see how i measure up to a more experienced grower with the same strain. Good luck on the rest of your grow bro, i hope it turns out to be somethin really special. :D

White Bery has NO White Widow at all in it. It was hashberry but they renamed it because of the name was taken already..At least thats what ive always heard.

hey awesome grow it looks like everything turned out beautiful. I am also growing some northern soul and was curious as to how tall your plants were (how old were they?) when you induced flowering and how much did they stretch? Thanks.
