strange plug on new magnum xxxl shade and lumatek with a kettle plug outlet ?

received some equipment today but cant get it working as the magnum has a strange socket , maybe an american one , i think i can safely strip the cable to put a normal uk 13 amp plug on it ?

the lumatek digital ballast has a normal socket inlet and a kettle style plug outlet ... what am i supposed to do with this to get it onto the magnum ? do i put in a socket ?

ah , i think i have sussed it out the kettle connection is called IEC if i get a male iec plug then i can go directy onto the magnums cable and into the lumatek ?

i was going to say that i had to get an adapter thingy for my hood to be able to plug into my ballast as well... not sure what it's called, but if you still need any help, hollar back and i'll look it up for you and get a link if needed.. :)

when i bought mine i got the convertor from them but they was in a seperate bag.
snt the kettle plug but a strange socket ive never seen before. i would go back to the shop as they should have given you them.

yeh the link u posted is what i have coming from my hood , the male plug

i think iec will be easier to get hold on but the cable on the magnum hood is really really big , bigger than a usual cable that would go into one of those connectors , hope i can wire it in properly !

yeh im not keen on messing with the supplied cables either but i cant wait any longer as my seedlings are probably overdue vegging and need to be moved from the propogator asap :/

Your magnum should have come with this adaptor to connect your lumatek to it.

Wherever you got your hood owes you the adaptor .

your right guys i called the shop i bought them from today and they will apparently arrive with me tomorrow , not best pleased with that but not much i can do , better than me chopping the cable and wiring it myself as the magnums cable is really thick and i doubt it would have fit in the iec rewirable socket very well .... if atall

Glad to hear you're getting the right connector. I was lead to believe that if your hydro store (online or real world ) in the UK ordered their SUNLIGHT SUPPLY hoods from a UK distributor then they all come with the connector block already attached! My BLOCKBUSTER had it already attached .


Was it an online store? If so which? HG hydro? As there have been really bad reviews about that particular store....
