Strange preflower

Hey y'all, I've decided to introduce a new strain into my garden via seed, and since I've been using clones for the past 7 years I could use advice. I don't have a picture, but my massive dwc 2 month old plant showed signs of preflower. I had the typical staggered leaves and tiny buttons forming. I thought my plant was a ball because I noticed one of the "preflowers" appear as a ball on a short stem, however, that ball actually turned into a little palmate leaf. Is it possible for a second set of leaves to form at a node? Do male flowers sprout leaves too? FYI, my plant is a hybrid. I don't have a picture but it's very leafy and the stem is over an inch thick at the base. Also there are an ass load of branches. Let me know! Much appreciated

On a side note, I've done what I believe to be very impressive lst, encompassing a 3x3 area with a single plant, with a totally level cannopy. :)

They start out as what these look like, then leaves appear.

Did it have any light cycle issues? Looks like a plant i had that started to reveg, you get new veg growth out of the flowering sites.

Those look more like the formation of branches, not preflowers. Maybe that's why they open up into leaves....thats what they are. Good luck
