Strange question

Has anyone ever had a plant in soil; then decided to Chang to hydro? Need advice on getting the soil of the roots. Any suggestions? Have family coming in town and won't have the ability to get into my space for about a week and a half, so.. Back to hydro it is, I hope!

yeah mate i did bout two weeks ago. cutting a long story short i had a number of badly nute burned plants, one wasnt goin to survive so i decided fuck it im goin to try sumthin i'd seen in here done . basically i took my plant and put it in the bath and as i had been tryin to flush it anyway the soil was soaking wet, i got a cloth to cover the plug hole thereby filtering a little and i just stuck my hand down the side of the pot and scooped the whole bloody mess out. i used a shower head to gently wash the dirt off, this is a very slow and gentle process!!! then i clean the bath and got rid of the dirt, this is a very slow and boring process!!!! i was putting it into a 5" x 5" net pot for a homemade 15 litre dwc set up. i cut all down the side of the net pot and halfway into the middle of the ass of it where i cut around 1 square inch of pot away allowwing the roots to go thru then i just filled the pot with hydrton pebbles and put it in my dwc. its still alive 2 weeks on but hasnt grown much. this is a result of my lack of knowledge on hydro nute feeding , the fact the plant had been badly burned beforehand an also sheer bloody shock to the plant. the roots are growing though and i just KNOW shes gonna make it, maybe not yeild much but hey, its better than nuthin.

As long as the plant isn't that big it should get over any shock fine, just gently wash away as much of the dirt as you can and don't be afraid of leaving a little behind, dirt is nothing to fear.

my plant was a week from flowering and over two foot tall!! i sure as hell wouldnt have wanted to try it if i'd had any other option but wherever it was i had seen it done the guy had , as japanfreak says, done it witha relatively small plant maybe only 6 or 8 inches tall. and like japan says ur not gaunna get all the dirt off and it doesnt matter anyway.

just checked my hydro today and although the plant doesnt seem to have changed much the roots are at least 3 times as long and maybe 5 times as bulky so it may just make a recovery.
