Strange Seedling Problem

Hey guys,

I germed some seeds, and planted them in to expanded peat pucks... Today i noticed what i thought was a root but i'm not so sure now! There is a pic below, take a look and let me know what you think this could be! Slightly concerned!

Ok so if my root is growing up how can i fix this? Scoop it out and replant it with root facing down or will this cause too much stress? Alternatively would covering it with more dirt solve the problem?

How did you germinate them? If you did it before you put it in the puck what side of the seed did you put in first? Taproot or other end? I cant really tell if thats the root or just a weird sprout from your picture.

looks like the taproot has grown upwards? did the jiffy pellet fall over at all and end up upside down at any time during the germination, the taproot always grows down by the force of gravity. you could plant the pellet in a pot of soil and just lightly cover the whole pellet with soil and it might right itself but it looks like the tip of the taproot has already dried out, in which case its probably be a gonna.

Just lift the seed out gently make a indentation in the dirt and put the tap root down and lighlty cover with soil.

i dont bother with any germinating in tissue or soaking in water, just straight out the pack into rehydrated jiffys and i always get near 100% germ rate within 3days. germing in tissue or soaking you have to touch the germinated seed at some point increasing the risk of infection or damage to the delicate taproot.
just put them straight in the germing medium, even if you dont know what to do, the seed does....... ;-)

Hey guys thanks for all the responses! I just went str8 to the puck this time (last time i germed in moist paper towels) This time i just went str8 from pack to puck! The pellet hasn't really moved at all (apart from me putting it in my grow box lol...

I can't figure out why this has happened but i dont think the plant is a goner as i've had more growth there today the seed pod has started to push out like it normally does when you get it left on the leaf...

I think i'll try and scoop and replant see if that works

thats what id do but i wouldnt lift the seed out, you could damage it further, just put the whole jiffy in a pot of moist soil with the soil covering the seedling about 5mm, if its a strong seedling its taproot should start to grow down and itl pop out the soil again in no time, but that dry shrivelled up bit on the end of the taproot doesnt make it look too promising to me. :-?
