strange supersoil transplanting question.

Ok guys I have 4 lemon skunks that are in roots organic soil in 5 gallon air pots. I have been feeding them liquid nutes and they are about 45 days in veg so they are pretty big. I was originally going to do this run feeding liquid nutes(supersoil was not done yet) but my next supersoil batch is done now and I want to use that instead because that is what I know. I want to know will I have any problems transplanting from these 5 gallons to 7 gallon pots and making up the difference in soil with ss? These plants are well established and are big enough to flower.

I can't claim to be an expert on the subject, but I think you're going to run out of juice with only 2 gallons of super soil in a seven gallon pot. Seems like most folks go at least half super soil.

i agree. maybe step up to a 10 gal pot and give them at least a week to grow into the supersoil?

I'd run them with the SS. Fill the bottom of the pot with SS then add a inch or two of regular soil on top then drop your plant in there. Sounds like it's established enough so it can take some hot soil. I do it all the time. Just go easy on nutes for the first couple weeks. If even using any. Probably won't have to using SS. And I would go with bigger pots if you have the room.

My first question is what kind of nutes have you been running? Thats important because if they arent organic your gonna run into problems... Never switch from non-organic to organic mid-grow....

If you were running organic, I'd go in like the above poster said a 10 gal or bigger and leave yourself some space at the top of the container instead of filling it all the way so you can top dress with more super soil if you need to....

you can also prune it back, then root prune it, then transplant into the 7 gal using mostly super soil.....veg for 2 weeks until it bushes out nicely, and flower as usual.....but like whitey says, only use SS if you were using organic liquids in your old soil....i assume you were.....

Yes I was using roots organic grow and hygrozyme but I only fed them that for about 4 weeks and I used it lightly as my lemons are light feeders until they start to put on weight. They are pretty bushy right now. I may get 10 gallon pots or a few 14 gallon rubbermaid bins and dirll holes all in the bottom for drainage. They are under 1600 watts in a 5x5 gorilla tent!
