Yeah, if he says its okay to steal, then I think its fine to steal his lights.

Karma is a bitch man, your better off not being on the negative side.

Upon examination of the streetlights outside I think this may be a self-correcting problem. Looks to me like there is a good chance of personal injury or death involved. they are switched with an internal photo-sensor,so are live to fixture at all times and they are up high enough that removing and lowering them without a cherry-picker would be dangerous. It would be a lot easier just to buy a lighting fixture and bulb, to say nothing of ethics. BTW stealing power WILL get you busted!!

Someday I am going to have a cave with a stream that I am going to make into a reservoir that will run turbines for power as well as be clean water for my plants. Just gotta find a cave with a stream that's close to civilization. It would be amazing, no outside power usage, easy water access, low heat signature (buffered by tons of rock and dirt), relatively constant temperature, and more. There would be cons, depending on the size of the cave, mold spores, eyeless frogs, bat men, seething demons of the underworld, etc... but overall, I would love living in a freaking cave with a house built into the outside (for sunlight and fresh air and all)

I'll post pics when I build it =P

I have a friend who built a circular under ground house. It's built into the side of a hill so one quarter of the circle is 2 storys of glass. this provides plenty of light. he heats with wood and has a hydro-electric turbine in a stream. Most months he sells more power to the grid than he uses, only in the winter does the house actually draw power from the grid.

they do sell 75 and 100w hps streetlights at home depot, so if you are interested in using lamps of that strength you can get them there.

You can just got to homedepot and get a 70 watt hps light with bulb for $50 and a 150 watt hps for about $85 there. The orange streetlights if hps will work they do make lps streetlights and the white light ones are sodium lights no good they make the streets more seeable but not good for growing.

Underground houses are the shit, I should start a thread. But I want a cave, with a stream, not just a dugout room.

oh i actually tried to take a light once...

DONT GET MAD!! it was in an abandoned neighborhood that was about to be demolished so i climbed up with a safety rope to get the bulb....

ended up being a broken 100w bulb........all that work for nothing

PLUS you still need a ballast and THATS what costs a lot of money!!!

I don't think he actually stole a street lamp; he was trying to prove a point: That there are still a significant quantity of HPS street lamps out on the, well, streets.
