Stretched seedlings

I recently sprouted some of my old Satori seeds. The issue I'm having is the seedlings have stretched a lot; I had to stake some of them before they got their first set of true leaves. It's like they haven't had enough light; but they have a 1k MH about 4 ft. above them so I'm pretty sure they are not light starved. I have grown this stuff back in NM and the seedlings didn't stretch like this. Before, I sprouted in small pots under a regular fluorescent, then moved to a larger pot and put them under a 400 MH.
For some reason I sprouted the current seeds in 3gal. pots. I'm wondering if this could be the reason they stretched so much?

Nah, pot size wouldn't make them stretch.
Bring your light down, and build up a little soil around the stem to bury some of it.
Do you have a fan going there?

I always use T5 fluorescent lighting for seeds, with the light an inch away from them after sprouting (to prevent stretch). Yeah, I'd say 4 feet away is kinda far even with HID for seedlings. I have a 400 watt less than a foot away (reflector with glass lens) from some plants on their 3rd week.

I don't know that container size has anything to do with stretch, wouldn't think so.
