Stretching: Is this female Mango stretched? (pic)

Hello everyone ;)

Just wanted to know if this female plant is stretched. It is under a 600W MH w/ a Light Mover 3.5. Before today it HAD a glass covering used for air cooling. I removed it today because I was thinking that the glass was inhibiting light from penetrating.

If it is stretched do you think I should get some CFLs and hang it from the ceiling. A higher wattage system (i.e. 1000W) right now is not feasible for me right now so I need some other options. Thanks guys/gals for your help! :D

Ya could bend the top down some. Eventually all your branch tips will be the same height then ya can have the light closer. You will end up with a even canopy and all the buds will get the same amount of light.

If ya dont the light will get farther away as the plant grows and it will stretch.

No need for a light mover.

Before I removed the glass from the vented hood it was about 5-6 inches away. I don't understand why it would have stretched when it was already that close....

a couple of things to think about:

1. you should probably put the glass back and get the light as close to the plants as you can without your hand burning if you put it at the top of your plants.
2. you should consider topping the plant to make it bushier

Where would you recommend topping? The very top or should I top between a certain node on the stalk?

Best,

Bend the top down and you will be able to get the light closer to the smaller branches. After ya bend the top down the plants auxins will kick in and the branches will grow. Ya also can get the light closer to the branches at the bottom of the plant.

Ya could TOP IT but then the branch developement will end on the plant. Well ya will get 2 more out the top, And that will get the lower branches to grow.

if you top at the main growth tip it will stop growing up from that point for a week or so, giving the side branches time to catch up. you can top repeatedly until it is as bushy as you want. see my growth journal for pics of topped plants.

Would u recommend topping or bending down. This is going to be a mother plant that I will be taking clones from.

Dirtboy: when your saying "bend" do you mean to the point where it creases the stalk or just stress it like in "low stress training".

I am not a believer in topping. If she is going to be a mother plant then top away. It will control the heigth of the plant. It will make the branches grow.

Low stress training. Bend it down damn near just before it bends in your case with that plant. Other plants i would not bend down so far.
