Stumped!

I am still in the works of setting a box up that can fit 1-2 plants just fine. Im using regular seeds so I understand I should start at least 4 plants to get 1-2 fems. The problem is I want do a mainline to a scrog and use a soil blend I made. So my questions are, Do I have to start training all these plants until I see pre-flowers? If I wait till I see pre flowers to start training that would be wildy inefficient as I would then top to 2nd node for mainline. Also I planned on using my homemade soil as soon as I had developed plants, so should I wait till they show sex to transfer them into the soil mix or wait until after the seedling stage but pre- sex shown. Thanks for the help. I would hate to have to use fem. seeds as I have some great genetics in the regular seed form.

well the more you cut and transplant the longer it will take to recover from.. i would transplant when the 3rd nodes start and then flip for sex. if you have room let to veg and recover then veg another few weeks and then flip them to flower and you will be lst ing them for scrg all the time there growing until you reach max tops that you want to get..imo i would just veg until 3-4 nodes then flip until i new the sex then i would take the girls and tie them down to fit my scrog and then flip them and you should have some gnarly tops.. but that size of room i wouldn't expect massive yields .. just a few z's

How long after flipping will it take from 3-4 nodes do you think, if it is a few weeks I might just veg until pre flowers. Probably wont mainline for my first grow after some thinking

You'll hit 3-4 nodes before it shows sex. Normally, people do what you're describing with clones, known females. From seed, you have to treat all your plants as though they are females until you are certain. Further, much of what you plan to do, should be done before you see indicators of gender. Might consider discovering your females, take clones from them, and then execute you plan(with the clones instead).

Thanks a lot for the response, thing is this method doesnt work well from clones, you need a seed grow because of the symmetry a plant from seed grows with. Its kind of wierd. But thanks.

Have you contemplated fem'd seeds?

This would take all the guesswork out of your chosen method of growing and allow you to truly focus on your mainlining?

I've only grown from clones so far. And my last run I tried some mainlining and LST. Both worked fine. I only main lined to 4 tops though because they couldn't keep up with the LST growth, and I wanted to flower them all together.

Ive got great genetics in the regular seed form. Figure im just going lst and top to fill the screen.

May I suggest if you TOP try and clone the top to eventually force flower to sex the cloned top.

This will give you a heads up as to which are female. You could force flower in a box with a single household cfl somewhere.

Then you can nail down your screen training with the remaining females. Just make sure to label all seed plants and clones so you know which is which.

Wow sounds like a solid plan. +rep when i get to my computer. How long do you imagine a clone would take to show sex including time to get roots and all that?
