Stupid A/C question!

Got a 5x5 grow tent with 2 600w HPS and CO2 @ 1500ppm when lights are on. The goal is to keep the temp at 90 degrees with lights on and 75 with lights off (living in NY).

So I found this sweet portable 1000btu a/c dehumidifier combo and wondering if it would be enough. I know most people use real window a/c units around 5000btu but since I'm running CO2 would 1000btu do the job of keeping temp just below 90? Thanks!

that sounds like a good start...i would prob jus run a dryer vent of air if ya could...but if you could actually put this in the tent that would work 2

not trying to hyjack your post man but I have the same issue. I got a 8000 btu portable ac in my 5x5 tent also. using bottled co2. I have the duct pipe that comes with it venting out of the tent. everything is hooked up right, but when I turn the a/c on the tent starts looking like a crushed can. having a hard time figuring this out. I know its sucking air from in the tent but its also sucking my co2 out also. how can I fix this problem?

Thats the problem with trying to have the ac in the tent...when you run your co2..ur exhaust fan should be off...(otherwise its just sucking it out the window)
but your ac u need cuz its hot right!...and your ac needs to breath as well..its sucking all the co2 in as well,as well as all the air inside the tent..(making it look like a crushed can)..In order to have a portable ac unit in the tent..u must have some kinda vent system on the ac unit as well...( it still has to breath)...if you was to say run a small vent system from the ac to your already intake system...u could have your exhaust shut off and run your ac and your co2 all at the same time.
your co2 wouldnt escape cuz the exhaust fan wouldnt be on. and the ac would be sucking threw your intake vent.(bring in fresh air) and not sucking your tent off all its air.
Just hook your co2 up to your vise versa to your light cycle..when your lights go off,so does your exhaust fan,and the co2 starts to run...

make sense?

Leave the hose inside? Either that or have a long ass dryer hose that connects to both sides kinda like an air cooled kinda thing that way when the air re-enters it's not as hot? Idk I'm just talkin out my ass:dunce: but seriously is 1000 enough why are you runnin 8000?

both of ya should try that..and that smaller dehumidifer/ac unit thing..may work.if you already got it try it..nothing else..stick a couple fans in there.u should have a couple in there anyways.....(helps plants get strong to hold those buddies up) that would help throw that cool air around as well....hot air rises..I think ull be fine..if anything u might just have to get a bigger exhaust fan to suck more air out....

I thought CO2 was supposed to run during the light hours. If I'm not mistaken the stomata close during dark hours and kreb's cycle temporarily shuts down.

Don't wanna burst your bubble but.....

Carbon Dioxide (CO2): Marijuana plants use CO2 when the light is on, so you will have to provide them with a constant fresh supply. In a room with no air circulation, plants will use the available carbon dioxide in a few hours.

CO2 when the light are off wont do anything.

I think its a 8000btu. got it for 250 brand new. it has remote, timer, temp control, and dehumidifier built into it. using a air cooled 600w hps sun system. and nycd and sour d. i guess im going to try and make another duct on the ac where it sucks in air and run it outside the tent to end the crushed can look. if I can do that problem solved, and no loss of co2.

Sounds good, give me a holler if it works I might run into the same problem

The crush can look is cause by the pressure inside the tent being lower then the air outside the tent. If you can put a vet at the bottom of the tent, the air will pull itself in by pressure alone and should correct the problem (no fans required on vet). Plus the fresh air is always good

Then the co2 will get out.. its a sealed room.
Air expands when it's hot, and compresses when it's colder thus creating the crushed tent. Idk what happens when the pressure reaches equillibrium though but in theory the the CO2 would leak out either way. Fuck I'm too high:dunce:
