SubCool vs Arjan

Me and a friend are about to start our next grow. We just have to pick a couple of good strains to work with. For those that have grown both of Arjan's stuff and SubCools stuff, which produced the best bud?? We are thinking about Space Queen, Jack the Ripper and/or Super Lemon Haze. Any input into these strains and their other line of strains would be appreciated. Both sound pretty killer.

Correct me if I'm wrong.. but didn't I see Arjan's strains on the leader boards of the Cannabis Cup? Not just once or twice, but like 7 or 8..

I don't know why so many people hate on GH around here...

When I first started buying seeds, everyone told me all kinds of crap about GH seeds, they arent the same phenos in the cups, arjan doesnt grow his own cup entrants, arjan pays for his cups...blah blah blah

Many years later, I run atleast one or two strains from GH each run. The lemon skunk is some of my favorite smoke, ever. The church is the shit too....I guess when your one of the best on the block everyone is trying to take you down...IDK.

Now, having said that, I also have a tremendous amount of respect for Sub/TGA and have grown querkle on more than one occasion, running her now as a matter of fact.

Both are incredibly dedicated to thier work and deserve our respect.

What im sayin is, if u want the 'GOOD' phenos, go with Mr. Nice. Tga, I wont even go into it. Oh, yes, Greenhouse was disqualified years ago, for bribing judges. FACT!!

Cannabis Cups are a joke, there a merely a marketing ploy to get people to go after the "winners".

Does arjan pay for his wins? I couldn't tell you but I know that a lot of the strain that win the cup aren't the "world class" weed they are made out to be.

Am I saying there aren't really dank strains that win the cannabis cup?

NO, I know there are, but the whole weed industry/market is a joke. It revolves around the fact that when you take pretty pictures of higher class weed people will buy it.

Personally I believe the whole industry is somewhat running marijuana's image. To me Mary Jane will be a sacred plant and only the true top strains should garner attention.

But that's fine, all the more world class weed for the people who enjoy it for what it really is.


Forgive my ramblings, but strains like "chocolope", "delatonic", and " super lemon haze"?

They may be good but surely this isn't a true representation of the real world champions trains.

Many will flame me for this, a couple will see it on my level.

To each his own.

Don't get me wrong I respect the truly marvelous strains that GH produces but there's a certain point of exposure where the lines are blurred and most of the "hype" becomes this unsubstantiated "fluff".

TGA Subcool's strains are truly unique and well thought out strains. I enjoy just reading about them. Some of the GreenHouse Seed strains are also very high up on my list but not as unique is Subcool's hybrid's.

i hope my "the Flav" from tga is topz , never heard of it.. cant find info.. but ive grown ghs stuff before.. a few times.. always good.. but my kush/diesel's were better.. ive got bubbaa kush kings kush and super lemon haze.. hope good shit

I've grown both. Lemon Skunk, Cheese, Trainwreck, White Rhino, Great White Shark from GreenHouse and Vortex, Jillybean, and Chernobyl from TGA/subcool. I wasn't dissastisfied with GreenHouse but let's just say I was more satisfied with TGA. On a seed by seed basis I got more keepers from subcool's stuff. The five GreenHouse strains were a mix pack, 1 fem bean of each strain. All five grew great but from a bud quality standpoint I only chose two to continue cloning (Lemon Skunk and Cheese). Now with the subcool stuff it was not fem of course and I planted nine total seeds. Seven were girls and I chose 6 of the 7 to continue cloning on the basis of bud quality. So there you have it. 2 out of 5 GreenHouse females turned out to be keepers, 6 out of 7 subcool females were keepers. The Greenhouse keepers are equally dank as the subcool ones IMO but I had to grow out more "non-keepers" to find them.

However I did grow a few GHS strains - Arjan's Haze #2, Lemon Skunk, White Rhino, Cheese and Great White Shark.
I had a Trainwreck as well but it died young. I've seen a lot of other people having trouble with that strain.

The arjan's Haze #2 was the best smoke I had to date. Poor yielder, long flowering period and was a weak plant overall. But the smoke is very trippy yet doesn't promote paranoia. I really liked it.
The Lemon Skunk is a poor yielder and really hates overwatering. The smoke is very tasty and pretty powerfull.
The Cheese smells nice but didn't impress me with anything specific. Didn't grew too well, wasn't too powerfull and the yield wasn't too high. Seems to me like avarage skunk with cheesey smell.
The White Rhino was a nice single cola plant but my setup wasn't ment for single cola strains so I didn't maximize its capabilities yield wise. The smoke is pretty simple - nothing new under the sun. It is pretty potent however.
The Great White Shark is a very nice producer, branches are easy to manage, fast growing and smells good. However it took mine 11 weeks to finish and it was very sensitive to tobacco flies\aphids. While all the other plants got rid of them and got over the infestation the GWS was filled with thoes craps up until harvest. Trimming it was a pain in the ass.

I haven't found any super-high quality specimen to take as a keeper. I'm running with some clones I'm having and hope to obtain some new genetics for the summer.

All the GHS strains I grew didn't perform well in hot enviroment and needed a lot of feeding.

Haven't tried it. It was mainly the name that stuck out for me. Lol

All-in-all I mean no harm. I'm simply stating an opinion, take what you want out of it.

Well I havn't tried TGA's gear yet but I plan to very soon. I think DNA and TGA are the most positively reviewed breeders that I know of, and my DNA plants are all very vigorous, a little more so than my GHS. I havn't had the pleasure of smoking my DNA strains yet. I think GHS has a few nice strains though, and that some people are a bit harsh on them. Ive grown and smoked their trainwreck, cheese, lemon skunk, great white shark and have repurchased these strains. wasn't crazy about the white rhino the first time I grew it, strong ass plant but the smoke wasn't worth growing again. As irony would have it, the white rhino seed in my second purchase was crushed, and I couldn't find it in me to give a shit.

Long story short i'll be growing DNA and TGA gear next go. I have a feeling though that the GHS trainwreck, whether its a diff pheno than the arcata clone form or not, will be a strain that ill be going back to ghs for because I can't get clones here, and it is my fav tasting most potent smoke to date.
