I use an RO machine because my tap water comes out @ 350ppm and 9.0ph, leaves a white film on my dishes, and tastes like chemicals. No thanks. Do not want. Plants probably also do not want.
The most important reason to use RO filtered water is to eliminate the problems that come from starting with highly alkaline water, which I have. And it gets rid of all the anti-microbial chems that people put in it. Don't want to kill off the micro herd.

I was going to say except for well water but I would think you can run that through a dual carbon filter to remove most of the bad stuff without all of that waste that RO makes. But then again, if it's your well and you aren't paying for city water, then it's no waste.
I just hate paying for cal-mag when my tap water has sufficient amounts. I do let the chlorine off-gas and I don't think I have chloramine but even if I do, it doesn't have enough to kill many microbes especially if you supplement with benies as that will overwhelm any of the tap water antimicrobials, and additionally since you're adding it to a large amount of organic material

Yeah that q was weird. RO water is the cleanest way to start, but you do have to add in calmag. I use it at 10ml/gallon and it seems to work great.

When I used to do saltwater tanks, we would treat the water with this chemical to remove the chlorine and chloramines. It was pretty common stuff and we used it to treat very bad tap water, and I never had a problem with some very sensitive animals. Anyone ever tried this?

hey i just recieved my soluble powdered humic acid ordered online from keep it simple inc. product is called teravita sp-90 soluble humate powder
its a black grainy powdery substance.
please let me know if this is the right stuff for the ss soil recipe. think it costed about 10-12 buks for like 2 pounds

you got it bro, that stuff should work great! my humic looks exactly the same
im also not sure wich size pot to use. 7 or 10 gallon
was gonna use 10 gall but thats alot more money in soil
do u think 7 gallon pots will be sufficient enough for indoor?
i was thinking of trying the {Roots Pots} auto root pruning and what not
i thought i read that sub uses 10 gallons currently, but he suggests 7
