suckit bucket thread

i started this thread since RIU doesn't really have any on the suckit bucket.

so i came across the "sucket bucket" on a bunch of other forums, but the only guide to building one seems to be this one guys really crappy video with lots of illegible text.

nonetheless, i get it. it's basically a top-feed/ebb-flow hybrid system. i'm planning to convert my bubble buckets to suckit buckets using 3-gallon buckets inside 5-gallon buckets.

i'll probably simplify mine and just use hydroton with no layers, no rockwool, and no lavarock (unless someone can convince me that any of that make a difference in this kind of system).

i'm also not going to use a timer and just going to let it flood and drain constantly. adding a timer, IMO, is completely unnecessary and just adds another single point-of-failure (the other one being the pump). if that timer fails (which they do), then the whole system dries out.

while this is a little off-topic, i'm considering hooking it up to my aquaponic tank if i can work out how to provide phosphorus and potassium without killing the fish. not only is feeding fish cheaper, you don't have to worry about chilling, adding H2O2, or adding/breeding beneficials in order to combat slime and other root problems.

anyway, i was really hoping to see some pictures or videos to see how other people have built their suckit buckets (and what kind of results they're getting). a side-by-side bubble bucket vs. suckit bucket grow would be nice :)
